    Default Frugal Lather Bowl Ideas

My wife picked up this serving bowl for me at HomeGoods today. I believe she paid $5 or $6. It does have ridges/texture in the inside and a nice flair so you won't bump your brush handle when creating a lather:

I picked this up at Target. It comes in a set of two in either blue, black, or grey for $1.77. It's a small salsa/dip bowl. BTW, it is dishwasher and microwave safe. This too has a nice open flair to prevent your brush handle from getting nicked. I really like this a great deal:

Last, I bring to you a medium rubber dental mixing bowl. Very flexible and unbreakable. No need to worry about damaging the handles of your brushes when creating your lather. I think I paid $3.75 or $4.75 for this:

    Total dental $5.50

    Pearson Dental $3.15

Be sure to get the medium size. Small is too small.

you can support small time artists with a one of a kind bowl. a lot of them go for not more than $10. try etsy etc. that just seems nicer than something 10 million people have in their dishwashers. this is sort of a luxury sport regardless of what is spent imo.

I found a gray marble pestle bowl with ridges at Marshalls for about $7-$8.

A week later I found a nice brownish pestle bowl.

    Don't use either one.

The best bowl is no bowl.

I have one scuttle and it doesn't get much use.
I mainly use soup bowls/cups and such that I get at the local linen and housewares shops. Basically anything that goes with the granite countertop in the bathroom.
Also, I frequent the local farmers' markets and buy neat stuff from locals (pottery). They have proven to make some really nice things pretty inexpensively.
You can find very functional items at very good prices. They don't have to be expensive scuttles and bowls. However, keep your eyes open for those rare finds.

Charity shops/thrift stores are my hunting ground. Can get some good bowls for a £1 at most.

I use a .75 Stainless Steel mixing bowl I had in the kitchen. You can get them at most stores for under $1. It floats on water and heats up quickly. Very nice to drop it in your warm water wail you shave and have warm lather every time.

I have a $1.50 sundae bowl made of glass from Walmart. It's recently been replaced as #1 by a DB bill bowl. And I've got a scuttle that's for sale pretty cheap on the B/S/T because I don't have the time to use it any more.

    Cheap works well IMO.

1.60 salsa bowl from walmart. Double walled plastic with a nice textured outside surface. Hit the inside with some sandpaper and scored some lines and it works amazing.

+1 on the WalMart salsa bowl!

I would avoid those bowls which have white interiors (like the Target bowl shown by the O.P.) since you can't see the lather against the bowl interior that well.

Here's the plastic salsa bowl I bought at HEB grocery for $1.00:

Last week they were on sale for 50 cents so I picked up a couple extra for travel and to keep at my GF's place.

    Work great!
