Has anyone tried this Guilded Hand Shaving soap from the Netherlands?
Like to find out if it's worth paying the huge delivery charge to try it out

From the review, I would say that a few did yes. It's good soap IMO. I got one and once finished, I need to try their shave sticks.

If you do order it I would carefully select some other European products you've been eyeing anyways.
Toss in some hard(er)-to-get-in-the-US products, like Häslinger, Calani (German artisan soaps), Dr. Dittmar, Klar Seifen, Tcheon Fung Sing, etc.
Look at our reviews section to search any that sparks your interest.
I would suggest this or this site, the 2 best Dutch shaving e-shops, with personal attention, fair prices, large assortment & great product knowledge.
Make it one big order, other wise the shipping vs products costs are totally out of proportions.
And from what I remember the stick is exactly like the puck. Try their balm. I am a lotions only guy (oily skin), but very rarely I do use a balm; theirs.

Thanks El-a-Menthol,
That's a good plan and good sources!
Just when I thought I was getting a handle on ALL the AWESOME wet shave products out there, and making a mental list of which I was going to try next... I discover another world full of European products that are not available here in America. Wow - it's mind boggling. In the space of less than 2 months, I have gone from someone who hated shaving, to someone who wishes he could shave twice a day just to experience all the different products.
I would say it's an average soap. Not bad, not great. Just your middle of the road soap I guess. One of the advantages is that it lathers very easily in my opinion.
This is a soap that is widely available here in Flanders thanks to "Kruidvat" shops, it's also quite cheap, about 2-3 euros. For that money you can pick up 2 or 3 Palmolive sticks...
It's quite an average performer.
In my opinion it's not on par with Palmolive or Tabac in terms of slickness and protection but very refreshing on days when I do not feel like using a tallow based soap.
I like the refreshing soapy scent.
Joris (not the razor). If you consider it as a hobby, you shave for free.
I bought the hard soap of DVH and a tube of Palmolive. Used both twice. But I went back to my TFS and Arko. These two are just "nicer".
It's a great soap in my opinion. I have never had a bad shave with it, the scent is nice and it lathers by only looking at it!

I found it good ,especially for the money, but not great and slightly died out my fac. I really liked the scent though: sweet and powdery.
I too found myself overwhelmed and decided to limit myself completely to the best products out their.
Not price-wise, but they need to be praised into heaven itself. Of course there will always be opponents of the products, but how many is deciding.
Also, because something is good doesn't mean it have to be really expensive. Arko has a boatload of fans. La Toja stick is more then reasonably priced.
Have fun browsing all the goods, take your time and enjoy your shaves!

Interestingly enough, this soap was all the rage at B&B many years ago. I used the soap a few years ago and found it to be a decent soap. If it isn't cost prohibitive to obtain, I would go for it. I don't think you will be disappointed.

It isn't a great soap and it's not bad. If the shipping is costly, you would be better off to spend your money on something nicer.

In a way it is the dutch Williams; cheap and available everywhere. It is way easier to lather but is not of the same quality imo as Williams.
Ok, I know I have a soft spot for Williams and I am not a fan of the Vergulde Hand, mostly because it dries my skin as no other soap ever did, but don't buy too much at once as you might get very disappointed.
I must to the barber's, monsieur, for methinks I am marvellous hairy about the face
In my opinion De Vergulde Hand is a very nice soap, especially for the price. Here in Holland you can pretty much buy it anywhere. I would take El-a-Menthol's advice and order a bunch of stuff as you will be paying relatively high shipping costs anyway. Barbiere di Figaro is a good online shop to buy. I recently tried the TFS barbe rosse and really liked it. Very strong almond, coconut scent.
If you just want De Vergulde Hand I wouldn't bother. If you want to try a load of things I think it would be worth it and fun!
