I face lather with soaps, usually Arko sticks.

I own and use more soaps. There are a few creams I love, though. I enjoy using both.

I prefer creams. I can work up a lather faster with creams, and I find the scent is stronger with the creams. However, mixing it up is part of the fun of this hobby. At any given time, my rotation always includes 3 creams and one soap.
I like things simple and cheap. Soap for me.
Soaps for me, mostly because I face lather and most cream seem over scented in my opinion. Plus there's something so satisfying about loading a brush on a triple milled soap and seeing it slowly cave in.

I like creams just because I have yet to find a soap my face likes.

The soaps, especially shave sticks, simplify the shaving process. I am more of a face latherer now, so I use the soaps.

...I also use only soaps and VDH Deluxe is my 'go-to' soap!!!
In terms of performance...it's a awesome soap; great lather, lubercation, cushion and glide. It's hypo-allergenic and contains 40% moisturizers, including Aloe Vera & Shea Butter with no animal products and no harsh chemicals to irritate my sensitive skin;

Plus I add about 6-8 drops of glycerine per puck before I melt it (nuke), extra lubercation, cushion and glide .

I'm currently having a cream time but I still enjoy the shave I get from the Palmolive soap stick. I also enjoy the challenge in getting MWF consistently good every now and again.
At the moment I have no preference as I'm still finding my way.
I'm more of a "what am I in the mood for" kind of guy. On a hot summer day, I'll take a cream like C.O. Bigelow because of the menthol in it (that, and I just really like it). Other times, I might break out my TOBS soap if I'm in the mood for some sandalwood. Or maybe I'll just feel like a quick shave and bust out the Arko. I had this conversation with the wife the other day. I used the analogy that while I like ice cream, a freezer stocked with just vanilla would be boring. I like variety in my soaps & creams as much as I like it in my food.
Soaps here, in part because I face lather and it's nice to just rub the stick on my face - don't really need to load the brush. I've only tried one cream though - Proaso, and I didn't like it all - very lacking in slickness for me, and hated the eucalyptus (didn't realize it had that when I bought it). Soaps also seem to be a bit cheaper, especially Arko, which is about all I use these days.

I like em all...for different reasons. This is similar to the "Badger vs. Boar" issue for me...however I voted Soaps simply because my favorite items in my den *AOS Sandalwood soap, MWF, Cade, Cella, Mikes Natural x 2* are all soaps.

I started with creams, but switched to soaps after about a year of wet shaving. Arko was my gateway drug to soaps, but I've moved on to the hard stuff, although still enjoy a morning with Arko from time to time.

I voted for soaps but I also like creams. Then again I am a big Uberlather fan and often combine the two for the best of both worlds.

I have no real preference, I like using both. I quite often make super-lather.
Soaps, particularly the vintage stuff.

Soaps feel more traditional and rewarding. Work better, too.
My stash has more creams than soaps. Guess the scents I like are mostly in cream form.
