    Thumbs up Great Board

I have been reading this board and finding so much good advice.

I will give my history. I had been wet shaving for quite a while just on my own trial-and-error basis. I started out with the Old Spice Shave Brush and Mug set when my skin became sensitive to the foams quite a long time ago. My wife bought me a good brush from a catalog. I have been using this brush for over ten years! It is getting very splayed and the dome has caved in so that it looks like a volcano. I migrated to Colgate and Williams Mug Soap when Old Spice stopped making their soap. I did try an Norelco electric shaver on a 21-day trial period but was disappointed.

Then I found this site and have appreciated all the tutorials, pictures and videos. I found that I was lathering and shaving with the wrong techniques and have been improving.

I bought a C&E Travel Brush mistakingly thinking it was the C&E BBB. I have ordered the mid-sized EJ Super because it is most like the one I have been using for a long time. I am also looking forward to the BB Essential.

I have ordered the Tabac shave soap and am looking forward to an improvement in soap quality.

My old method of shaving was one pass against the grain with a Gillette M3. My shave now is three passes with/cross/against. This is so much easier on my face! I am thinking about a Merkur HD, but I am currently getting great shaves with the M3.

I appreciate all the great advice here.

I don't think anyone has said it yet, so ...

    'welcome!'

    ...
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!

go for the Merkur HD just to see what it's all about. if you like it then that's great, you'll be saving in a very short time. if you don't then you can go back to the mach 3 and at least you'll know what it's like.
