Barbasol razor info thread. Any info and pics posted here.

Ha ha Alex, you got me on that one.
I was thinking of the Conrad razor I saw on ebay that looked much more like a barbi. Don't the bakelite versions all have "barbasol" written in white script on the handle? Also, did Barbasol make a three piece version? I thought they were all two piece razors.

We are all on the same team here...we all help each others mistakes as needed. Some Conrads do say Con-Rad others may not...Barbis do have the words BARBASOL on a majority that i see.

No, I'm not trying to be a jerk or be contrary, my apologies if it sounded like I was.

I do think it's funny that there do seem to be a lot of Barbasol designed razors and Barbasol imposters floating around. Its going to prove a challenge to sort them all out.

BTW, I was just on the Barbasol website and their homepage photo features a Super Speed, a GILLETTE flair tip Super Speed. Someone's got to write them to set them straight.

We are good..I was just saying thatt we are a team here ( Team B&B) . even though we challenge each other its all in the game so we can learn more in the process. I never worry about any Jerks though, Spotz will take care of that. View attachment 269931

Could anyone comment on the plating used on the Barbasol floating head razors? I heard somewhere the top cap was plated with a different metal than the bottom piece. Anyone know the deal?

As I understand, it's all nickel under brass.

So awhile ago I was looking at a really bad photo trying to decide if this razor had a lot of soap build-up, or if it was plating loss. I decided to throw caution to the wind. Turned out to be soap build-up.

The funny thing, is that after buying the first Barbasol, I went to the B&B BST thinking I might find the bakelite version for a stablemate. Bingo, top of the thread.

Ha-ha. Sometime ago I noticed that the Barbasol company had a Gillette Super Speed on their homepage which seemed kind of odd. I wrote them to point it out. It must have got their attention, because look at it now:
