I don't have the SC New but am looking. Most of the guys seem to think YMMV.

Gotcha, I think the fatip will impress you it puts a lot of curvature in the blade which makes for a smooth shave where the r41 is flat and can be a little irritating

I find the Joris to be a smoother and a lil more efficient shave than the FaTips, even the FaTips with aftermarket handles.Having said that, the difference is very small and very much a YMMV.Like vocalistbob said both get the job done and I'll add the slant to that as it's also a great shave.

If efficiency is defined as most stubble removed per pass I don't even think this is a YMMV thing. Each razor is in a completely different class.
I can't see how anyone could come to a different conclusion:

I define efficiency as the ability to quickly perform a great shave with minimal risk of irritation (this is part of my goal and if I have to slow down to accomplish it, I am inherently less efficient.) As a result I choose the slant, though I believe there are better vintage options than the 37c. This razor and it's older brother consistently give me smooth, effortless shaves with minimal pass(es).

I find the R41 is not that slow going for me. I use it with a feather, and a new blade every 6 passes (currently every 3 shaves). I don't understand the need to slow down or fear it. The only thing is that you need to learn to use it. The optimum blade angle requires a diffent handle angle than other razors I suspect, and I think the reason some find it too aggressive or irritating is they don't ever learn this angle.

I can't compare it to the others on this list yet, but I shave fast and both blood and irritation free with an R41 and a feather.

Have all three and when you ask for efficient razor I would rank 1st place 37C, Runner up R41 and on a 3rd place Fatip.
If you had ask for an agressive razor it will be R41, R41, Fatip and 37C.

I guess that for those who compare Joris with Fatip price. You pay a bit more for fit & finish on Joris.

Well, price of Joris 4 times bigger than Fatip's. But again, it's everyones's choice how to spend their money.

I own all the ones listed (actually a 39C instead of the 37C). I think that my best very close shaves at present come with the Fatip/Tradere handle combo. It is extremely well balanced, cuts very, very close - BUT - it's not harsh - which for me, the R41 sometimes is. The R41 shaves closer - but at least for me, the Fatip shaves better. I'm going to pick up a new Joris as well...just need to decide upon the right handle. Does anyone know which handle has the best grip? And which is the heaviest?

    Get a slant, either a 37c HD or a 39c Barber Pole.

I have all that you mention (including the long handle 39c).

The most efficient safety razor I have found is the Classic Shaving Cobra which uses disposable straight razor blades.

The Slant HANDS DOWN!! The Fatip second. The R41 is VERY aggressive. The slant provides as close a shave as the R41 but is way smoother, IMO. Unless you like an insanely aggressive shave, don't get the R41.

I'm not sure how to define aggressive other than efficient. I find the R41 does not attack me. It is not agressive like that. It attacks my hair, thus it is efficient. I guess I'll lern more wen I get my joris, slant and LC New some time down the road.

Disclaimer: I have never used an R41.

Fatip above the Merkur by significant margin. I think the Merkur is interesting, and will keep trying with it, but it's a much mildr shave than the Fatip, and kinda bulky. And not in that good Fatboy-style-bulky, but just a little cumbersome.

Fatip with a Weber bulldog handle...you won't be sorry even if something else is "more efficient."

Though Fatip gets least poll votes somehow it's most attractive to so far.

If you are going to lean to the Fatip, make the leap and get a Joris. Same head, far better fit and finish

Thanks Turtle, but as I've already mentioned before, Joris is "too rich for my blood". I couldn't justify spending that much money on a razor (4x price of Fatip). "Bling" isn't my first priority. Not that I don't like it though
