    I have never used a safety razor but I have read that a Gillette Super Speed is a good newbie DE razor. Any thoughts or recommendations?

    Mountain biking, woodworking, traveling.

    I'm sick of crappy disposable razors. I'm looking for a good newbie DE razor.

    Welcome to the Hall Jose! I am under a month of DE shaving. I started with a 1970 Gillette Slim. Now I use a 1930 Gillette New. The learning curve is paved in blood so watch some videos (youtube) read well what is written here at the B&B and remember don't apply pressure to your razor while shaving. Good luck.

    Today I won a 1967 birth quarter Super Speed with a black handle on Ebay. I'm already checking out the sampler packs that are for sale on Amazon.

    I got my Super Speed today. I'm pretty happy. The date code is M2. I think it looks great. Now it's time to practice.
