Default New 007 Cologne...? Color me intrigued

So has anybody else heard about this?

    http://urbanmogullife.com/2012/07/29...mell-like-007/

Procter & Gamble Co. and Eon Productions have teamed on a new James Bond fragrance to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise. Fans of the series will appreciate the hints that the James Bond for Men fragrance will bring: ”fresh apple, cardamom, sandalwood and vetiver” with a backbone of lavender, moss and coumarin. The fragrance is set to launch exclusively at Harrods of London on August 15 and nationwide through retailers on September 19.
The 23rd Bond film, “Skyfall,” arrives in theatres this November.

I dont know about everyone else but I think this sounds potentially very very good. Going off the notes in it that is. ”fresh apple, cardamom, sandalwood and vetiver" Um yea, I will definitely be trying this. Cant speak about the quality it might be though. And lets hope they don't stick too outlandish a price on it as well.

I'm a bit of a pessimist about this, especially if it's P&G putting it out. They don't have a good "high end" track record with me.
They tend to aim for CVS/Walgreens type placement.

That being said, the current Craig Bond franchise has a pretty good record with merchandising. The Tom Ford sunglasses from Casino Royal and the Omega "007" watch are first rate, pricey items.

The scent may be okay, but for frag heads, there is something a bit "off" about celeb and/or entertainment franchise based scents. It may be a bit of a snob thing I'll admit. As a Bond fan, it sounds like more of a contemporary style scent than a scent I would associate with Bond.

You just saved me a whole lot of typing. This is pretty much how I feel.

My kid has some Sponge Bob cologne and it smells pretty good. Probably will place it with that. 007 is a cartoon to me. zzzzz Don't think I've ever seen a full one and couldnt' tell you a thing about them.

I hate to be a pessimist, but this sounds like James Bond Underoos. It might have 007 written on it, but Bond would never wear it.

At the same time, it's interesting to think about just what this Bond would wear. Would he wear a venerable old British men's fragrance? Would the new Daniel Craig Bond sport something more contemporary but in keeping with his hard, austere image? We know that the literary Bond used Pinaud quinine shampoo (sadly unavailable now) and it was his friend Ian Fleming that favored Floris No. 89. I haven't read the Bond books in ages, but I don't remember any fragrance references and he occasionally had snarky things to say about guys who wore scent. My guess is that he didn't wear anything at all. Could you imagine the strong sileage from some powerhouse scent giving away his presence when he was about to surprise a double agent in a Macao hotel room? Or a couple of SPECTRE gunmen tracking him down in a Monaco casino because there was still a cloud of his fragrance left in the room where he just throttled their boss? We can never know for certain, but I bet Bond splashed on some unscented aftershave and let it go at that.

That frag is bad luck. Bond gets beaten up in every sequel. But without it, he probably wouldn't be such a stylish dandy fellow.

It sounds like it has some similar notes to Tommy. I used to wear it years ago, and always liked it, although Tommy Girl always smelled better on my wife than Tommy did on me. In fact, as it is one of my favorite feminine fragrances, she still wears it from time to time. If you try the Bond cologne, let us know. I'm generally a skeptic when it comes to this type of marketing, but every once in a while, a good one is released. While I'm not a fan of Sarah Jessica Parker, her Lovely smells great. I try not to let my biases blind me to well made products.

My older brother had this when I was a kid; can't remember what it smelled like though.

It will evidently sell for about £42 / $65 for 125ml, so it's on the low end of designer scent prices.

Actually, Gendarme put out a scent called Mojo based on Austin Powers and it gets some praise at Basenotes.
