[QUOTE=JimK;4342940]To date, the current US made Personnas, Astra SP, Feather New High Stainless, and Shark brands all deliver fabulous shaves for me. A bunch of Derby blades are on the way, but I'm beginning to think that if someone happens to have any of the top ten blade brands, their shaving needs are well taken care of for the duration. I love to try new blades, so I spend money despite the fact that I have enough blades to keep 10 people smooth for years. Then again, even at Feather prices, DE shaving is still a bargain compared to

Double edge shaving has 100 feathers for 26 bucks with free shipping, that's like a years worth of blades. That's like 2.16 a month. Not bad at all

Are we talking favorite overall, or a favorite from day to day? Some great ones are too expensive to use every day, IMHO.

I use straights, now, but when I used a DE, my order of preference was:

    Feather
    Shark Super Chrome
    Red Israeli Personna
    Uh-oh.

Lord Super Stainless (the white & blue packs).

Second place is harder; Souplex, Captain CS and the green & blue Lord SS are the contenders for that position.

Hard to pick one. Lately, every blade I pick up seems to work very well.

I recently revisited Croma Diamant's and have now had 9 great shaves in a row (4 on the first 5 on the second).

Quite sharp and smooth from the first stroke.

1,65 for a pack of 10 in a (German) supermarket is quite a good deal in my book.
Joris (not the razor). If you consider it as a hobby, you shave for free.

I really have started to like the Personna Labs and am finding the Perma-Sharps to be quite good.

I ran through a week + of trying my favorite blade brands, and paying close attention to the results using my two favorite razor handles.... The result is that I like the Feather, the high end Personnas, and even feel comfortable with the Derby blades. But, the Astra SP outshines them all in terms of a nick free super smooth shave. That's the difference for me. Feather and Personna deliver just as close a shave, but the Astra is simply blood free, and I find that I'm even more relaxed when using them. The current crop of Astras are the winners by a good margin in my razors, and on my face!

I have used a ton of Kroger Personna's in my thrift store Gillette Slim over the last 12 years before finding out about the alternatives. It was just the way I shaved and now that I have found BB, TAOM, and the others, I have the bug. I got a Edwin Jagger DE86 with some Derby blades which were better than the shaves I had been getting with the Kroger Personnas. That said, I got one shave only out of the blade and some tugging by my XTG pass. I read and read and thought about the Feathers but decided to go with Personna Med Preps. These are the smoothest that I have used in my Jagger or Slim plus they last for two shaves and the second shave is much smoother than the first. I did learn somthing, with a fresh Med Prep in my Jagger, I do my WTG on cheeks fast with long strokes. This proved to be extremely smooth and comfy. I then switch to the blade that I used for the last WTG cheek speed shave and do my WTG neck and upper lip finishing with the same blade XTG and ATG whole face. Throw that blade in the bank and stash the first blade for next shave.
