Default Another question, probably a dumb one.

So, the aftershave balm. Do most people put it only where the beard grows or do you use it like face cream? I know the short answer is depends on whats in it, but I am curious what other people do.

I use splash on my whole face, but a lotion type balm I only use on the "bearded area." And the only dumb questions are the unasked questions

You can apply the balm all over your shaved area and use a light circular motion to help absorption. Of course no dumb question at all. Feel always free to ask whatever you want, that's why we are here.

I only use it in the shaved area, but that's becuase I have dry skin around my eyes and on my forehead, and I dont need the drying effects of alcohol there. Now, a great smelling combination is Clubman on the lowr part of the face, and Every Man Jack Signature Mint lotion on the dry area. The combination of those two scents is pretty magical.

I will typically use an astringent type splash (Thayer's witch hazel or Myrsol Metilsol) on my entire face and neck, follow with a splash on the shaved area and back of neck, and then a balm on the shaved area and neck. But, I also use a daily face moisturizer with spf on my entire face. If I never used a daily face moisturizer, I probably would apply the AS balm to my entire face. I think it's safe to say that applying it to your entire face would be good for the skin on your forehead (ie, places you don't shave), but for me it would be overkill since I use a daily face moisturizer as well.

I don't use it at all.

There are no dumb questions, just custom titles.

I typically use an aftershave splash on just the shaved portion of my face and just a little bit beyond. I have found it makes a world of difference compared to when I was doing no post-shave facial treatment.

It depends on the balm. Most I used on just the shaved area, Nivea lotion I used on the whole face. After using them a bit I started to get bumps that went away when I stopped using balms. Now I stay away from the balms and just use regular witch hazel then aftershave splash. No more balms for me.

I use it just on the beard area, but I then use a daily facial moisturizer with spf(Jack Black to be exact) all over.

No, that's a good question. Balm over entire face and forehead, and splash over shaved area.

Well obviously this is a YMMV type of question. I only use it around the bearded areas as I feel this is the only area that's necessary for me. That's where all the damage(hopefully not too much) has been done so there's no need to apply anywhere else. Personally ASB is for moisture and repair for me, not so much for scent. The scent is just a bonus, but it has a job to do so I let it do just that.
And I know it's been said, but as you'll see there are no dumb questions here. Just questions that have been unasked(these are usually the ones that bug the hell out of you).

    Enjoy the shaves!

Whenever I use a balm I put some in the palm of one hand, rub both hands together, and then apply it all over my face. Not only does it sooth the shaved area, but its excellent for all parts of the face as a skin conditioner.

Any left over I rub on my chest, arms, etc. just for the smell.

Actually, a very good question. 99% of the time I use balm on my shaved areas. I find that quality balms are absorbed quickly, doesn't leave your face oily, and replenishes your skin after shaving. My favorite favorite balms are:

Truefitt & Hill 1805. (a lightly scented, fresh scent. British, masculine, and regal.)
Castle Forbes Lime ( lime at it's ultimate best!)
Speick ( a little heavier than the previous two. Clean and a bit spicy in scent. Masculine)

I use it all over the face and even my forehead. Good for the skin.
