    Default Semogue limited brushes

I have been looking at the Semogue boar brushes... have owned a couple in past... and the two brushes that I want to try are limited and almost impossible to obtain.

So the question is... why doesn't Semogue take the specs off of these highly sought after brushes and make them a regular product?

    Thoughts?

They wouldn't be as special then would they?

It's like how crunchy frog wouldn't be crunchy if you took out the bones

They can leave the little numbers on the bottom of the limited ones.

Keep an eye out on the BST! 2011 LE Bristle 1's come up frequent enough. Though they are the only ones that seem to... I wonder why that is.... ?

Also, I'm fairly certain the Owners Club is exactly as you said, based on a previous LE. Its a hugely popular brush as well

Yes, keep an eye on the BST, I have seen them there from time to time. They are worth the wait in my view. You may also want to post a WTB on the BST.

As the owner of a 2011 LE Bristle 1 I suspect that they are more available on BST than other LEs because they are incredibly difficult to break-in.
I've had mine for almost a year and it still is not completely broken it. Also, even if the bristles eventually soften and split, they readily clump together, so you end up with a bunch of cow-licks.

I think that the company screwed up somehow on the design or manufacture of this brush. I am not the only one with this perspective.

I don't have the Bristle 1 but have the Bristle 2. It's a great brush, very dense with lots of backbone. All of the boars, I've tried have some sort of clumping action going on when wet. Don't they all do that?

Didn't they release an SOC Boar using same grade as they did on 2009 LE Boar claiming that those who missed out on the purchase can finally purchase it with smaller knot size? Thus, making it "much easier" to break in.

LMMFAO! The 09 LE was just the same. I wasn't even going to put up with having to wait for it to break in. I'll stick to Omega and Vie-Long lol

I had a 2011 LE style #1 and it was a little too dense for my taste. Some may find it fantastic but it just did not float my boat so I sold it. Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic brush, it just didn't work for me is all.

As a matter of fact, Semogue just did another limited brush for another forum. Similar to the Caravela, with a clear handle and a 22x52 boar/finest badger knit. Check vintagescent and you will find it soon enough

The cowlicks in the LE 1 made face lathering a bit strange feeling. I sold mine on the B/S/T. It would really dig into soaps, but the face feel was a bit too uncomfortable with all of the cowlicks.
This is the only Semogue I've ever sold.

My experience with the Semogue 2011 LE #2 is pretty much the same as what James experienced above. Mine does not show a lot of clumping when wet but does show some and it is gone when dry. I like this brush a lot. After reading some of the reviews of the #1, I am wondering if it takes longer to break in because of the denseness of the smaller knot. I seams that those that stayed with the brush for the longer break in period have been rewarded with a great brush. Then again the proverbial YMMV certainly applies in this case.

It took me about a month to break in my 2011 LE boar 1, but I sold it nevertheless. I couldn't get on with it, although I love my 1305/SOC boar. I kept the 2011 LE badger 1, that is a brilliant brush IMHO, so are the Caravela and SOC 2-band brushes.

I was wondering why guys were selling the # 1's off, now I understand! And I'm also a #2 owner and love that brush! I don't have any real clumping issues at all. If anything, mine has a bit more splay/bloom than I'd prefer. I dont like random hairs flying out when I'm face lathering it. Other then that small complaint, its an awesome brush!

i love my 2011 LE Bristle #1s. i don't mind the clumping as i find the brush works magnificently. Of course, YMMV. Enjoy your brushes.

The #2 bristle is a great example of what I am talking about in the original post. Why don't they make a standard brush with the specs on this? Great specs, people love them... they should make a brush similar to this as a standard brush.

I almost sold mine, then I went through a period of around 6 weeks of lathering everyday and now I've been rewarded with a fantastic brush. It's probably my favourite boar at the moment.

The cow licks calm down once it's broken in, it looks more uniform. When the brush is at this stage, it feels perfect.

Cow licks and the brush that is not broken in can be a little frustrating.
