I Used My Last Super Iridium

I am truly sad. I used up my very last SI blade. I had been holding on to it for quite some time and I finally decided to use it. I used for about 5 shaves too. typically blades only last 2 - 4, and my SI blades last for 4 good shaves.


So I am in my search to find the next best or closest blade to the SI.


I have used:
LORD
Gillette Black, Yellow, Green and the Super Thins
Persona
Sharp
Perma-Sharp
Astra (which are not that bad actually)
Feather
Doroco


So I am looking for a consensus here as to which blades are the closest to the SI's

Well, I have never used one, but have read posts like this, and the facebook page to bring them back, so I bought 350 of them from ebay. If I don't like them, you can look for them in the B/S/T here in a few months. In the mean time, why not try to stock up?

because the ones on Ebay are most likely counterfeits form China.

I still have a nice stock of them and really enjoy them. To me, the best comparison is the Gillette 7 O'clock blacks from India. A bit pricey, but a great blade that reminds of the qualities of the Iridium Supers. The Perma-Sharp supers (Russian cardboard box) are also a decent valur replacement although I don't think they are good.

You can buy more SI baldes without going through Ebay. A B&B vendor sells them here. And from what I've read - although I haven't yet tried them myself - the Polsilvers he sells come pretty close in quality to the SI too.

i got mine thru him, still on the way...100 super iridiums and 100 polsilver super iridiums.

Do folks agree that the blades milo is selling here at B&B are genuine? If so, I will order a bunch of those as well.

I will then offer 5 of each to an experienced iridium user willing to test to see if they can tell the supposed counterfeits from the real thing. If the counterfeits are actually easily detectable, then I will just dispute the transaction on my credit card.

Iridiums are still my favorite blade, but I get on quite well with Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellows and Personna Med Preps.

I'm pretty sure we would have heard about it by now, if he was selling fakes.

a B&B vendor selling non-genuine items, would not last long on here.

I ordered from him and am confident they will be 100% authentic.

Try any of the current crop of Russian blades-Voskhod, Rapira, Ladas or Perma-Sharp. They are all super blades and perform well in various razors.

I think that I have a little over two hundred left. I agree with those that recommend the Gillette 7 O'clock blacks from India as a fine replacement. The 7 O'clock Blues are right up there as well.

Thanks for the pointer. I hope I am not getting fakes, but skeptical. If they are fakes, I hope my credit card dispute takes care of it (after I try my e-bay dispute, as if that would do anything).

Based on the counterfeit thread, the pics at the ebay auction look either like they are improving the counterfeits or selling the real thing. Anyone want to weigh in on them?
