Yesterday, I discovered that Crabtree & Evelyn's Sienna shave cream is once again available. Guess all those pleading emails I sent actually got read!

I think this must qualify as the best days bargain hunting I've ever had.

Firstly, I got this little kit from an antiques shop in my home town of Sheffield. The razor is clone of a
Gillette Tech, no idea of the company that made it (perhaps someone here can shed some light on it).

Then, from the same antiques shop I saw a chrome case with 'Eclipse Razor - £12' on the tag next to it.

As you can probably imagine, it set my heart fluttering a bit. I got the assistant to get it out of the case and this is what I found:

I've finally got my paws on the second of my grail razors (the other being a Darwin). How nice, and somewhat ironic, that I found it in a shop in Sheffield.

It is in very good condition and still had an Eclipse blade in the head. My guess is that the bloke who used it hadn't used it since the fifties. I suppose it was just left in a drawer or something.

So, all in all I am very chuffed!

You got what looks like a bargain there. The eclipse looks in great condition. I'd never seen the case they came in and I've got to say, it's pretty nice.

Given the crazy prices these have been fetching on Fleabay I'd almost given up hope of finding one for a reasonable price.

Thank jeebus for people who don't know anything about razors!

And this brush is much better looking live than on photos. Photos can't really show the handle design.

ID:	264243 Picked these up monday at a local antique store. $15 for the three. The '55 flair tip cleaned up better than the '53 but both should be good shavers. Havnt tried dating the open comb tech. I wish the head had turned out as good as the handle but again, im anxous to shave with it. Click image for larger version.

Excellent score. Looks like the brush in the old Yardley Shaving bowl magazine advertisements from the 50's and 60's. Good luck with it.

thanks. a fellow B&B member (Mark1966) pointed something out that I did not know, turns out this a valuable little razor and a British Rocket, not the normal Blue Tip (the knowledge of of B&B members, never ceases to amaze me). i guess he picked up on the England and the gap in the collar (above the blue tip)

Are they as rare as people say they are. I had no idea what it was (until I was told by Mark), I just thought it was a blue tip at 1st.

Turns out, we were driving by somewhere, I asked my wife if I could run in for 5min and came out with this $10 beauty....

Are they really that rare? I've seen threads on SMF and TSD saying they are perhaps the rarest Gillette and that people have only seen a couple in pictures and never in person etc.

Either way, I'm very happy with my $10 purchase, Blue Tip or Blue Rocket, I'm fine with it. The smudge in pic 1, is just that, a Smudge. I just made a little cardboard lightbox and didn't realize how much fine detail these boxes pick up.

Went to the Antique fair today.....
A near mint cased 58' TV special. Beautiful red case contrasting with the dark blue blades.
Again, a near mint cased 1961 Fatboy. Even has part of the cardboard insert on the bottom! Almost Nos! So close....
A cased slim and two adjustable black beauties.
Not bad for a one day haul :)

    very nice.

i'm still waiting to land a fatboy, in any condition, but i'd freak for a cased, near mint. i have had luck with slims, but am looking to try a Fatboy again. (had one and sold it prematurely)
