    Default SS 1947 Identification

Picked up an ebay auction on a whim. There were three razors, to me one looks good, one looks OK, and one looks rough. Wanted to start with this one to ID and then work on the 3 piece gold Gillette something or other. The one that is in rough shape is a Slim adjustable. Total cost was right at $22, so not too bad.Only been DE'ing for about 3 weeks now, but already on the hunt for vintage...

I think that I have correctly identified a recent purchase as a 1947 Super Speed.

Drew these conclusions based on the following:

    * Handle looks correct with diamond pattern on both the handle and the knob
    * No Date code on razor head
    * No notch in the positioning bar, has the "wings" to position the blade

Here are some pics. Please feel free to let me know your thoughts on if my ID is correct, or if I am totally missing something.

    Thanks!!!

Yup, that's my birth year razor; I'd know it anywhere. I own one that is being replated even as we speak.

Thanks everyone for the confirmation. Seemed to fit, but always find that there is the chance for the gotcha that sneaks up on me.

It's not in the best of shape, but it's a good solid razor for daily use and has good plating and no brassing (I think that's the correct term). Not a terrible price on the lot either. About $7.75 per razor. Got this '47, a Slim Adjustable L2 (1966) and a gold Ball End Tech with no date code and no Gillette logo on the razor head. It's in OK shape and could be used as a daily shaver.

The slim adjustable that was in the lot is another story. Going to try and clean it up and see how it looks, but not holding out a lot of hope on that one.

    Thanks again for the input!
