Well they did have twin-edge DE blades at some point, I believe Schick and PErsonna offered those--
I shaved couple of times with the Schick, they called it "2002", wasn't bad actually...

I tried a package or two of a double DE made by Schick back in the 1970's if memory serves. They were trying to compete with Gillette's Trac II. Nothing really wrong with them but they were a bit involved to clean between the blades. Lots of hot water was needed. It was a bit of a gimmick if I recall. I then tried just putting two blades in my Gillette Knac. It worked pretty much the same as the double DE. In other words, not worth doing.

I've heard of guys experimenting with this back in the day. Seems to me for this to work the top blade would need to be slightly narrower.

Try loading 6 and strap a battery to it ... you may beat Gilette to the punch!!
Be there or be square. Only I can do both!
I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

I think that you're right. That's one of the reasons that it really doesn't work. It also requires a spacer between the blades to ensure that there's a gap.

After I tried it as a teenager I concluded it was a dumb idea. Now, that's not to say that on coming to this conclusion I didn't persist with it. I was a dumb teenager as I recall.

You made me laugh out loud on that one.

No, I've not had problems with two blades coming out. Most of the blades I use are individually wrapped. None have had 2 blades in one individual package.

You are correct, at least as it pertains to the Schick blade. When I got a razor from an antique store, I found one of these shchick double doubles in there. the blade was very stiff and had "top" printed on it. the top most blade was narrower than the bottom blade.

    Default 2 DEs

I couldn't imagine it. IMHO you are very lucky that you found out ahead of time.

Were there 2 blades in the wrapper or did you just absent mindedly put 2 in?
