Would the skin get used to it?

some simple thoughts from me...didja know that Mennen Skin Bracer A/S sold in most groceries will not burn upon application?...cheap and cheerful and not a bad A/S to use or keep in one's rotation. many here use non alcoholic A/S's or ASB's but, if you have a high alcoholic A/S and you don't want it to burn when using, try this- after shaking some out into your hand, spread to the other palm/hand too, hold your hands up and count to 3 or 4 seconds, which will give the alcohol time to evaporate some, then apply. A decent alcoholic A/S should have some skin toners, moistuizers and what not along with the alcohol in the formula so let some of the alcohol evaporate before application

If your skin is drying (like mine does because of air conditioning this time of year), a good ASB all by itself is nice...Nivea ASB Sensitive is German made, no alcohol, available in groceries, drug stores

If you find your razor is still causing razor burn although you are using lower blade angles and more passes, it may be time to refreshen the edge (Cr0x strop/balsa?). Or, it could be you are not quite there yet with your technique. Most of us when we start out with a straight razor, it takes a lot of uses before success comes around, but too, because of your n00bness, you may mishandle the razor and have unknowingly dulled the edge a bit here and there...or it could very well need some attention to the edge, maybe some hone work or maybe just an abrasive to pick up the edge a little. Others may have better and different ideas
