Has anyone gotten a chance to try out this ammunition? I've got a skunk problem I'd like to take care of with minimal disturbance.

I have used the CCI CB long for similar sized problems with good shot placement.

I have not tried this particular load, but shouldn't any subsonic round do the trick?
In work, do what you enjoy
In family life, be completely present
Especially with a suppressor on it.![]()
WIth a longer barrel, all I could hear was the hammer falling and the bullet hitting the tin can. I was shooting from a 29" barrel...very quiet!

yeah they make decent subsonics but your better off getting some CB's if your got a short barrel unless you have a '' tuning device '' on the barrel
get the winchester subsonics they are much better

they work great, close range is best though. Also so does not leaving out the cat food.
Wish I could use that on the possums that have a party on my roof every night.

I have been playing with the stuff for years. Works great, though it usually wont cycle a Ruger 10/22. Most of the time you only hear a soft putt as the primer is struck and then a thud as the round hits. Great for small animals as 9 times out of 10 it doesn't leave and exit wound.
Hmmm. I think I would feel bad about poisoning something. A quick head shot I could do (followed by turning them into a Davy Crockett style hat), but not poison.
Besides, I'm pretty sure they are a protected species. It sure is tempting though, at four in the morning when they are running around on the roof. They sound like elephants.
What Jim said.
CB long's in a bolt action .22 rifle is nearly as quiet as a suppressed one.
I have some powderless 22lr ammo. Out of a pistol, you think that it didn't even fire. Aguila maybe?

If I can make a recommendation. I have a Gamo Silent Stalker Whisper (in .177 but they make them in .22 also), I can pick off Squirrels in my back yard from my living room with the back door open. But it has the power & accuracy to take down skunks. Here's a video I found showing how well it works.

I've used these in bolt actions and they are as quiet as an air rifle. FWIW, I did try a round in a revolver and it was as loud as any other 22 cartridge. I think that is due to the cylinder barrel gap and escaping gases.
Nice piece, though if you already own a .22, CB caps are still definitely an option.
The .22 CCI ammo is very nice, but if you can pick up one of those Gammo air rifles, they're just as powerful as the .22 and much better for what you need.
