Some interesting comments guys - thanks.

I think my thoughts are covered pretty well through the various posts.

Of course there is one option we haven't considered. By the time these would actually be valuable time travel is likely to be a possibility and we can just pop back and grab one.

I mean if it works for Jake and a few others of you now why not then! LOL

You can make more money investing 17 bucks plus $33.00 for shipping. Just buy some jeans at BJ's for $20.00 and sell them in other countries for $60.00. Sure beats waiting 100 years to see a trun around. But thats just me :o)
    Im just having fun :o)

Thanks again guys for the responses.

The question was a little tongue in cheek (who would collect carts!) but it did make me wonder what our parents/grandparents would say about the prices paid for some of the sets promoted to them, from the humble SS Travel or Fishing Sets to the TV Specials to some of the wonderful Christmas gift sets you see from time to time.

I mean who would have thought that a $1.95 adjustable would be 'worth' north of $100 just a little over 50 years later.

Time will tell whether I should have thrown one of these in my collection - but I don't think I would ever see it being worth a whole lot more!

Had a buddy that used to jokingly razz his parents about how much money they "gave away".
Back in 1978/79 he worked for Sears and used his employee discount to buy two of darn near every Star Wars toy Kenner put out, he went off to college and got his own apartment and sometime in the mid eighties had to stop by his folks to grab something from the basement and noticed the now very open area that he had all the SW stuff stored.
Upon asking what happened to all his SW stuff his mom said that he was too old for all those toys and that they'd given them away to charity.
He was just a bit PO'd as he had some of the very rare items such as the Jawa figures with the cloth robes (replace by plastic very soon after the very first limited issue)and an intact Millenium Falcon (that tiny remote drone was redacted from following issues as a choke hazard and most of the ones from the first issue ended up down an air vent usually) and just to get the point across to the folks showed them a SW price guide that showed they'd given away several grand worth of "toys".
All was eventually forgiven but he still gives them a good natured ration of grief from time to time.
