Default Whose Pure badger do you like ?

I'd like to try a Pure badger for a bit of scritch and scrub beyond Best , but from reading this and other forums , Simpsons may be too scritchy while Kent and Vulfix may be too floppy .
So , whose Pure badger do you like ?

Kent's "Pure" is really Silvertip. If you want to consider a Kent, try the H4 or H8, which they call "pure", but is really Super.

I think "bit" is the operative word here; in my experience it's more like "truck-load".

Have you considered a Black Badger, almost as scritchy as Pure... but better looking.

I'd agree with the quote. It's a totally different knot.

Well , maybe then Pure is not for me .
    I would consider a Black badger , I see that Vie-Long offers them .
Thater offers a Fine badger that I understand feels like a grade between Simpsons Pure and Best although with less backbone .

    Pure? Vintage Kent.

I'm a dense brush lover myself, but for people who go "BAH Chubby has no flowthrough!!!!111111!!!!!111", there are two options in my book. 2 band brushes or Vintage Kent Pure.

I'd liken it to Rooney Super, but with more backbone despite being less dense with more loft and a tiny bit more scritch.

No clue what modern Kent Pure is like. Like I said, I like dense brushes. Bought this one for the handle and was pleased with the quality of the knot (Despite there being a large scratch on the handle, it appeared otherwise NOS, and smelled like fresh plucked badger when I first washed it).

The brush I have with the most stitch is the Simpsons Beaufort B4 in pure. It is one that gets the nod a lot lately

Plisson's black badger is worth a look. It remains my favorite of the scritchier brushes, not excessively harsh but definitely scritchy with good backbone. I have the #12 size.

I don't know what you have now. I think Simpsons Best Badger is a prefect balance. I'm partial to the Colonel X2L but the Commodore and Case are great also.

I sold my Kent because it did not have the backbone I wanted. As much as I like making my own, I haven't found a TGN knot that was as good for me a Simpsons Best Badger.

I had two Simpsons in pure, eagle and duke, and found them both too painful to use.

I had a Rooney 1/1 in pure, I remember liking it. Scitchy yes but not uncomfortable.

"Scritch" is an acquired feel. Once in a while I like to pull out my Simpsons Special in pure and at first it was too dense and irritating to use but with a few uses it had a little more give. I use it on random occasion especially on those days my face feels extra oily. It's an exfoliator for sure.

I have a Vulvix Original Pure Badger. Its not floppy at all. If you're looking for a 'little scritchy' its good. A good balance and value.

+1 Got myself my first Boar a few weeks ago. Great backbone, a bit skritchy. And only 8 bucks.

Check out Benton Clay's website, they have a very nice walnut handled Pure knot brush that is limited in quantity, but very nicely put together.

I like Rooney Pure hair - I have a 3/1 for those times when I want nice scritchy exfoliation.

I have a Special in pure & it started me on the "brush crack" that is Simpson's...so I reckon I like it a lot. I've gotten very fond of the best hair now, but the Special still gets it's fair share of face time.
