    Default Newbie Check in Mr_Brown

    Newbie here...
Read something a couple of weeks ago and this forum kept popping up when I was researching. So I've been lurking and pulled the trigger:

    Dropped about $80

    Omega 10066 Boar Shaving Brush
Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Safety Razor
    DE Blade Sampler Pack, Standard
Edwin Jagger 99.9% Natural Shaving Soap in Tub, Sandalwood

I have a couple of decent aftershaves already and the old styptic pencil... Just wondering if I'm missing anything???
FYI... I am not a fan of any menthol stuff something about the cold makes grooming feel chemical.
Thanks for all the advice I've read so far!!!

Alum block, witch hazel, aftershave balms. None of these are necessary, but if they work for you, it makes your shave that much better!

    welcome.
May I suggest u consider derby, astra, feather, crystal, and others. find what you like.
Ej makes a nice soap, enjoy. be sure to get the lather technique down. I'd soak that omega brush in vinegar first then sollow up after 10 mts with a shampoo and 10 mt conditioner rinse. helps get rid of the boar funk.
after shave- find what works. you're set. stypic pencil, check.
pre-shave oil- debatable, I never use this.
merkur razor, great shaves. I woned a 23c classic. the34 is much heavier. let the razor weight carry.
happy shaves. and welcome to the addiction. oh, my I suggest u try an ARKO STICK at least once. you may just become an arko zombie. hahahaha

+1 on the alum block, WH, and AS balm - not essential but add the overall experience
