    Default cut the pointy shavebrush?

I have a brush synthetic that is very pointy. 23mm, sturdy backbone, but TOO sturdy to face lather. Loft is short.
the pointy section makes it hard to push down and face lather. I'm sure this is a great bowl lathering brush but I was almost taken to cut the point. got it used. rather soft and I enjoy the feel juts not the performance.
Any thoughts or recommendations? I'm ready to pull the trigger on an Omega boar. something like 23mm with some backbone compared to my pure Omega badger. very floppy. gets the job done but love the feel of the synthetic.
I'm also scared that if i cut the tips it'll ruin the brush and make it scratchy in the middle.
thanks again for the feedback gents

Cutting will make it even stiffer, but I'm surprised that it's an issue, normally for face lathering you want a very firm brush.

I'd suggest rolling it onto it's side a bit so instead of driving the "point" into your face, you are working the angle of the bulb.

thanks Rich. It's a bit too sturdy. which is why I'm ordering a boar. a bit more height on the loft would have helped.I hear the omegas can be pretty soft. I'm just waiting to make the jump to a shavemac. silvertip. when I can splurge.

Shavemac are supposed to be soft I was also very suprised by the tgn knot, and I use that exclusivly for face lathering creams. As for the OP I have a brush that is too pointy as well and I debate back and forth on what to do with it. The suggestion of using the side of the brush is all that really can be done as it does help.

    Do not cut the brush!

It will only make the knot seem firmer and probably very, very scratchy as well.

On the other hand, it's a hobby. So experiment. That's the only sure way to find out if cutting would work or not. Enjoy playing with your hobby...Columbus took a chance

All good points... OTOH, it is synthetic, so aside from giving it more backbone, it MAY not change the feel of the bristle tips.
For a badger? Oh ya... nothing like taking a $200 Super or Silvertip and turning it into a $30 Pure (Pure brushes are shaped by trimming the hair, Best and above are shaped with the natural ends of the hair)

And indeed.... Columbus took a chance, though not with a $200 brush, but this isn't a $200 brush.
Buy another one so you have a spare (you're going to end up with 8 or 20 sooner or later anyways) and have at it!
