Default Blind buy ~ Lubin Bluff otw...

How goes it guys? So I just paid for a bottle of Lubin Bluff on ebay. Found a 2.5oz NIB for $50. I am completely unfamiliar with this line of cologne. I came across the Bluff and Idol on fragrantica some months ago and they've both been on my wish list since. Now, I've only had 1 or 2 bad blind buys ever. I'm usually pretty meticulous on my research and going through reviews before getting something. Around here we don't have a large selection outside of the really commercialized brands that every dude and his brother are wearing already. Everyone asks why I don't just go for samples of stuff before dropping good money on it and I dont for 2 reasons. Number one being I'm really impatient lol. I dont want to wait for samples to get here just to have to turn around and wait for my bottle to get here. Second being that I like getting surprised! For me its awesome not knowing what to expect. But anyways, I did all the looking I could on this fragrance and it sounded like one I would really enjoy. But what do y'all think? Anyone have any experiences with this? Will this be another bad buy or should I be as excited as I am?

I'm a Lubin-head but Bluff, Itasca, and several others have not been to my liking. I'm a blind-buy sucker myself, so can't fault you for your impetuous decision. Just hope you like it as much as you think. No doubt about Lubin's quality, but they tend to be too sweet for me these days. Good luck and hope you enjoy it! FYI, $50 is a GREAT price!

thanks for the feedback! yea fingers crossed that this isn't another check on the bad buy list. I went ahead and picked up a bottle of Itasca from the same seller as well for $50 too. Just seemed like too good a deal to pass up. I was reading that the Itasca has a stong Vetiver note. Can you confirm that? I've kinda fallen in love with vetiver over the last month so once I heard about the notes in Itasca I had to get it.

    Don't forget to report back.
I will most definitely be sending out an update after I've had a chance to try them both out. Given, of course, that they are legit. Two $100+ fragrances for $50 seems like its too good to be true. I contacted the seller and he said he bought them cheap at a local fragrance store closeout. So we shall see...but Idol is definitely on my wish list. Wasnt lucky enough to find that the same price as these others or it would be on the way too lol.

I would be careful when purchasing something like frags on ebay due to the probability it could be a fake. Hopefully the seller has great feedback and everything arrives as promised.

Oh I know. I got gypped on a bottle of Magnetism just last month Once I tossed up my negative feedback though saying I got a fake and not to trust the seller, he was quick to send me a full refund. Should these not be legit as well this seller will be getting the same thing. Even the swindlers dont want negative feedback like that on their account. But we'll see. Hoping it doesn't come to that though.

Alright alright it is update time! Got both of these in on Friday and I've had the chance to try both of them out. Here's the quick verdict...BOTH AMAZING! But to go into a little more detail...Lubin Bluff - this one is very very spicy. You can clearly detect the kola nut, nutmeg and cinnamon. Its definitely a unisex fragrance. Very masculine but I could see a lot of ladies wanting to try this one as well. The only negative I have is the longevity. Its not horrible by any means. I got about 5 hours the other day. After about hour 3 though its very close to the skin. Still enough for you to catch whiffs of yourself but just not projecting as much as I'd like at that point. Lubin Itasca - My definite favorite out of the 2. Lots of citrus in this one and with a clear woody vetiver note. Longevity is perfect on this one. 8+ hours easy.

Overall I am obviously very please with this purchase. I was so worried they weren't going to be legit but I guess I did just find an awesome deal for them. I've got Lubin Le Vetiver on the way from Great Britain now so I will update y'all on that one as soon as it arrives.

Late update - Le Vetiver arrived a couple of weeks ago and it is amazing! I really really like the citrus route Lubin took with this vetiver. Doesn't smell like any of the others that I have. However my only problem is the same one I had with Annick Goutal Vetiver...its extremely old school smelling. Straight from the 80's old school. I am 26 years old, bearded, my arms are covered in tattoos and I've got more than a couple extra holes in me (piercings lol). So I really don't know how well it compliments me. I havent heard any complaints. Though I am a very mature acting and looking guy, I just feel as thought its suited for someone a little older. So I am still deciding on what Im going to do with that bottle. Though i have come to a conclusion on one of the others. The Itasca is definitely going to be put up for sale/trade. Its nice but just not special enough for me to justify keeping. I thought it was my favorite of the Lubins I had but after a week of test driving it I realized it wasnt all I thought. I would like to venture further into the house of Lubin though and try Idole and Figaro. I have already concluded that I will definitely like Idole but has anyone here had the chance to try Figaro?
