Cool Second Week of DE...New supplies

Just wanted to relate my second week of DE shaving.
    Tools:
1958 Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed
Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platnium razors
Van der Hagen Soap & Bowl
    Parker Badger Brush

This shave was not as kind as last weeks shaves with my cheap starter kit. I blame myself. Last week each shave was done with special care as though my very life depended on it. This week, I think I got a bit careless a few times, (maybe it was the blade I was using?). No nicks, but one minor weeper that went away very quickly and some irritation. Overall the shave was very good. I still have trouble spots along the line under my jaw line. I think this is mainly due to needing to learn a good angle to shave it. I really love the Gillette Super Speed, and thank those who suggested it as a "newbie" type razor. The Parker Badger brush I bought off of Amazon was much better than last week's boar brush, but I will still keep the boar for something like a travel brush. My lather was a whole lot better from when I started. (Thank you to those who suggested the YouTube videos. They helped a lot!) I can see with more and more practice getting better and better at this. I want to perfect my form first, and then get better at the speed of my shaves.
Thanks to all for all the great information you share on here. It makes it a thousand times better/easier for us newbies who are still trying to perfect our technique for ourselves. I can see this being something I do for the long haul, and not just a passing interest. The DE shaving interest is definitely with me.

Good post. As you have figured out, practice and attention to detail are definitely important with DE shaving. You'll be a pro soon.
