Old strop that laid around.

So I am a bit of a hypochondriac and have had a strop strung of the ass-wipe dispenser. It has been sitting there idle for about 3 years. I am converting back to straight shave when I am home from the norm DE shave away from home which is five days a week I am not sleeping at home. What is the best way to sterilize the strop so that I can set it back up to use for straight shaves?

You can rub it with alcohol, it doesn't harm the leather and it quickly evaporates. The higher the alcohol content the better, also good for strops that had to much dressing. You may or may not need to rub some dressing or oil on it as the alcohol may dry it out a little bit but not much.

You might also check into applying some neatsfoot oil, I'd imagine it to be a bit dried out
or some good ol' palm rubbing
