Default Cannon Elan II what should I do?

    Gents,

I have an older 35mm camera that I don't know what to do with, its a Cannon Elan II and a Tamron model A06 28-300mm lense. I bought this in the early 2000s when I was living in Japan. I since have moved on to a DSLR (my wife doesn't have the patience to wait for film). What should I do with this stuff? Keep it, sell it, trade it?

Your guidance is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Sell the lens (I'm not a fan of Tamron is why I say that).

Do you have any intent of shooting film again? If so that is a fine body and all of your current Cannon lenses should work on it just fine.
I really like the eye control focus too. If you do sell it let me know, I'll bid on it. I can use a backup film body.

i'dkeep it if I were you but then again I'm a film buff. I have a 70's Nikon 35mm slr, early 80's pentax 35mm slr, lenses, filters.
I hear what you're saying about the digital. Honestly I feel the digital film has ruined pictures and their importance. I remember sitting around on a weekend, going thru the old foto albums. I still remember my mother, pulling out the pictures to girls I was serious with and took to see my folks. lol!

then again if you feel you will not use it sell it. I have a newer 35mm d series nikon slr, early 2000. Too electronic for me but takes nice pictures. I can't get enough money selling it to justify getting rid of it.

It's not really worth anything to sell. I have literally boxes of Nikon film gear, some of it like new, and I had no luck trying to sell mine. And I wasn't asking much compared to what it was worth before the digital revolution.

Keep it and cross your fingers that the hipsters start shooting film again to be "alternative". (They already have, but seem to be limiting their camera choices to god-awful East German and soviet cameras, or polaroids you can't buy film for any more). This might drive the price up a little.

Unfortunately, most film gear is worth next to nothing. If the lens fits modern Canon lens mounts, then you can get something for it. You probably won't get anything for the body.

I'd say Keep it. You might want to start shooting film again. At the very least, load it up with some Kodak BW400 CN. Its a C41 process B&W film, so you can get it processed at any drug store.
