Palm rubbing enough for English Bridle?

Just curious if the oils transferred from palm rubbing the strop prior to stropping is adequate for an English Bridle strop? Thanks for your replies.

Just hand and face oil for me. Neats foot oil increases the draw, its OK if you want that.

I think the need to oil a strop is over stated sometimes. YMMV, but as Doc noted oil seemed to dramatically increase the draw on my Bridle and Latigo strops.

A quick wipe down with alcohol seemed to reverse the effects well enough tho.
