Just hand and face oil for me. Neats foot oil increases the draw, its OK if you want that.

I think the need to oil a strop is over stated sometimes. YMMV, but as Doc noted oil seemed to dramatically increase the draw on my Bridle and Latigo strops.
A quick wipe down with alcohol seemed to reverse the effects well enough tho.

I misread the title and was expecting something else staring English Brides.
