Hey, what channel is the Olympics on? I don't want to miss a minute of it.

The US was lucky to escape with a win in men's basketball. I would have loved to see them have to crawl back to the states.

Luckily, LeBron made the play of the game by employing the patented Moe Howard/Ouch/Ric Flair poke to the eyes of Pau Gasol. They didn't teach him that one in Barcelona.

It will be airing on The WB, immediately after their coverage of the Chilean miner rescue.

If you want to win more medals, fund your swim athletes. There are a GAZILLION medals to be won in swimming.

...not to metion the only a small percentage of nations have abundant swimming pools. It's one of those "elite" categories, like equestrian, sailing and track cycling. Take that away and GB comes out near the bottom of the table.

All very silly, IMO. A true sports fan wants to see a tight competition, not a turkey shoot. This is why I found the Jamaican effort the most thrilling this time around. Tiny polulation, very little wealth, piles of Olympic gold ;-)

As frustrating as the outcome was, there's nothing 'bad' to be said about the US team ... just the Norwegian referee.

... oh, and one or two decent swimmers are retiring. Some American chap named Phelps or some such thing ...

I really enjoyed the Games overall. I could do with more coverage of less popular sports, but I already know that going in and tried to watch some of it online.
Some history was made and records broken. With the technology getting better and better every year in regards to kinesiology and training, it makes sense for athletes to get biggger, stronger and faster.

I always like to see the footage and stories from the host country, though I already know quite a bit about GB it was nice to see.

That being said, in 4 years the only thing I will remember is the Queen with 007.

I really enjoyed it. I can't remember having watched the Olympics since 1996. I have no idea why, since I love sports and dig all the drama that goes with them.

My moments were when British athletes won and all the fans sang the anthem in unison. Gave me goosebumps.

The closing ceremony was... okay... Where were Adele and Elton John? And the big question: Take That? A washed up boy band that didn't have a hit outside of the UK is one of the final acts? Are they REALLY big over there or something?

Weeding out swimming events would probably be the single best change the IOC could do, followed quickly by eliminating one round of the gymnastics.

I expect they'll have to cancel something ... if only to make way for the golf being introduced in the 2016 Olympics. What next? Darts?
Can there be any doubt left about the Olympics being a money-making show rather than a true sports event? The Olympic symbol is starting to represent that it's a five-ring-circus!
I don't object to it being so commercialised and dominated by professional athletes, but I do object to such a business venture receiving public funding, disrupting a city's normal operation and even having special laws passed to ensure its success.

I understand in 2016 they're planning on changing the name from the Olympics to the International Beach Volleyball Championship.

It's just about the only event they televised for the last three Olympics.

I caught a few moments of the women's beach volleyball. Is it compulsory for the girls to high-five and hug every time they score a point?
Despite the possible attraction, I found it annoying very quickly.

No. In fact, they're required to do that even if they don't score.

Agree that their displays after each point were so unnecessary and distasteful. I will admit to hoping that the USA team(s) would lose so NBC would stop airing so much of it. I only had over-the-air TV so I was stuck with watching or turning off. When Dalhausser and team lost there was hope for more balanced contest coverage, but the women's teams were strong. Indoor volleyball was much more interesting IMO. I don't mind a little coverage, but it seemed to be the premiere NBC event.
