How the heck is Justin Gatlin competing in 100M? Isn't he a prior doping cheat?

    NVM, from Wikipedia:

Justin Gatlin (born February 10, 1982) is an American sprinter. He is an Olympic gold medalist, with a 100 m personal best of 9.80 seconds and two-time World indoor champion in the 60-meter dash. He served a four-year ban from track and field for testing positive for a banned substance; Gatlin had appealed the ban in 2009, but it was later denied.

You may have just spoiled it all for our NBC-watching friends. I can't believe that wasn't broadcast live!

I can't believe they showed Equstrian semi's instead of the 100m. Unreal. Man, those sprinters should be baseball pinch runners in their off season.

I can't wait to watch the mens 100 meter! I hope nobody ruins it for me. I heard Bolt dropped out because Mickey Rourke beat him in a drunken footrace on the streets of London last week.

A little late to the thread. Been trying my best to watch, but it's been pretty unwatchable for me, as in boring and uninteresting.

I've been watching most of the day. For all the events being shown, I have not seen one full minute of shooting, even if just archery this whole week.

The only mention has been of the Army shotgunner and a short interview and about 0.0000000000000000000087 sec of one clip of an actual shot.

The Olympics is great, but what 'grinds' the Mrs. and my gears is that fact is the IOC defends tape delays
    vs. live broadcasts.

We both think all Olympics events (especially the BIG signature event finals i.e., swimming, gymnastics, 100m sprint), should be televised 'live'. We want to see it on the 'tele' first, rather than read it online.

We know what many may be thinking…that with the time zone difference in London (6 hours behind @ US Eastern Standard Time zone), we would be watching events at say...2-3:00am, but what’s wrong with that? The Mrs. And I would gladly stay-up to watch ‘signature Big ’ heat, qualifying and final events (that's the fun of it all).

Of course there is another way to see it live...via stream live video of the London Games, online and mobile, but I ask...who wants to go through all that 'drama'?.

I think the IOC would defend anything that ensures its profits and preserves its right to claim ownership of the Olympic games. The more I learn about the IOC the more I think countries should stop paying them for the right to host the Games. They should tell the IOC to get stuffed and decide amongst themselves who's hosting it. How the hell did a French organisation get the right to sit on its backside, make ludicrous demands about how the Games are run, and rake in all these profits anyway? I thought the Greeks invented the Olympics.

I think it'd be great if nobody bid for a few Olympics in a row. Nobody.

Why should some sucker ... er, "host nation" ... be on the hook for dazzling but pointless opening and closing ceremonies, for building countless facilities that they don't need, for massive security costs ... costing billions, all for someone else's benefit?

What if everyone just said ... thanks, but we'll let someone else host the games.

Okay, I bet some tin-pot dictatorship desperate for international recognition and credibility would still offer to host ... but Damascus isn't a good option right now, there's only so many times you can have the Olympics in North Korea and China, and let's face it ... unless they are guaranteed a latter-day Jesse Owens to "stick it to the dictator" like in 1936, even the IOC will know that perpetually cozying up with `that sort` of country will cost them credibility.

What if the IOC was the one making the offers, trying to entice countries to take the Games ... that would be pretty cool.

Awesome! Major flashbacks to Daley Thompson's Decathlon on my rubber keyboard ZX Spectrum 48k. I still have it in a box in working condition.

    Default Legacy? What legacy?

The current plan is for the developers to swoop in the moment the Games are over to rip up the Olympic Park.
Under mounting pressure they are considering keeping it open temporarily so the public can visit it.
    My, aren't they spoiling us!

Hopefully, the Powers that Be in soccer have crossed the name of one ref off the list for consideration of ref'ing the medal games.

Terrible officiating and bias towards British boxers this whole Olympics! Terrible! Even when British boxers are clearing losing, they somehow get the win.
