I love Clubman and I was chosen by Special Reserve. I now have a full bottle (not to be confused with "a whole half-bottle") of Lilac Vegetal available for PIF, gentlemen!

Assuming that forest is full of old women riding atop horses that are relieving themselves and baby powder trees.
Sorry you weren't chosen, but I would be glad to take that wonderful elixir off your hands. As a member of The Chosen I am highly qualified in the worship of THE VEG

Please, PLEASE pick me. I want some. And if you can, a little sample of Special Reserve, I've never seen it in real life.

I loves me some Veg, but I loves me a good anti-Veg rant, too. Well played, sir, well played!

Before you cast it aside, or PIF it, do try decanting to glass, wait awhile, and give it another go. The ways of the Vegetal are dark and mysterious, and many who were first repulsed, return and are born again in a glorious aura of lilacs and manly self confidence.

Some, however, give it a second whirl and are mentally transported straight the incontinence wing of the Daisy Hill Senior Care Home For Habitual Baby Powder Snorters.

    One never knows.

Haha, I am flattered, sir! I figured I may as well have fun with it.

I will give it a shot with decanting. I didn't actually find the scent offensive so much as it's just not me. I was thinking about it earlier this evening. To me, Special Reserve is the exact opposite of Lilac Vegetal. SR is "dark", it's leathery, it's manly, it has undertones of dead animals and horse sweat.

The Veg on the other hand is "light", it's powdery, it smells like flowers. It reminded me of being crushed amidst a ring of my grandmother's friends at church as a child or some other equally horrific fate. It just didn't smell like me.

I'm not calling the chosen a load of sissies, far from it! But while some are chosen to stroll through the flower gardens of life, sprinkling enchanted baby powder onto wayward passersby, others were chosen to smell like leather and woolen tunics soaked with the sweat of a decade's campaigns or, as I've recently discovered, to liberally splash on the gasoline-and-citrus notes of such Oriental mystery lotions as Mandom and Bravas!

(I'm still having a lot of fun with this, if you couldn't tell )

So! Having said all that, I uttered the sacred acronym "PIF" much too soon. I'm going to give it one more try, after decanting. And I think I'd honestly rather decant most of it to send to people wanting to try it for the first time than simply writing it off and sending it to a veteran who already loves the stuff. I truly appreciate all the advice from the veterans, but isn't PIFing all about helping new people experience new things (in a lot of cases)?

This is far and away my favorite thread. Thank you to everyone for making it so!

Playing Words With Friends yesterday, I submitted the word Veg and up popped a message asking if I really wanted to stick in my opponent's head the smell of a powdery lilac plant lost in a horse stable.

Perhaps we should petition for the moderators of B&B to provide a banner for those of us brave enough to ROCK the VEG. Sort of like the contributors banner etc. LOL

The horse manure comparison is new to me. What a welcome change from cat pee!

Put the Veg in the refrigerator and put it in a glass bottle and you'll get the intended smell. The plastic bottle gives it a bad rap. It was originally in a glass bottle before they went to plastic to save money.

You know the smell you notice when your cat has peed on an article of clothing you have on but didnt notice it till you got to work? Thats it in a nutshell hahaha kinda joking here.

When i first got a bottle and sniffed it, it smelled like a freshly peed on urinal puck. My girl did not get that impression from it at all. I wear it occasionally to give it a chance and will keep it. It smells better after it has been applied to the skin.

Unlike cat urine. Or horse manure. (Just guessing here.)

Got my Gary's samples of The Veg today. After hearing all of the horror stories of smelling it, I veerry carefully took a whiff. And it was awesome! I'm sure it smells harsher directly out of the bottle, but it's obvious that decanted it smells divine. I just may have found my go to aftershave.

Another brilliant man who sees beyond the hyperbole and recognizes divine elixir when he smells it.
