TGN finests are fairly consistent in my experience. Though the 26mm were slightly less dense than average as I recall. I doubt one exists as dense as your chubby, sadly. I'm jealous of your M&F, neither of mine are any denser than a TGN... though with the added backbone to the hair, they lather much differently. I have one (A Klenzo Green Marble base I had him restore) at what I'd normally consider a bit high of a loft for it, and it still performs really well thanks to the spring to the hair.

I lucked out with the current M&F I own, someone had one of unusual density that they were willing to part with. So I wound up with a brush I'm very happy with. Its not as dense as a Rooney finest, but I just love the face feel of these brushes.

Get the Chubby 2 in 2-Band

I own 2 Simpsons currently after selling my Polo10 & Polo12 and my Duke 2 Best:

    1. Duke 3 in 2-Band - perfect for creams that explodes easily into lather heaven because it's more precise because 2-Bands are often bulb shaped from Simpson

    2. Chubby 2 in 2-Band - perfect for creams that needs a bit of work to create the lather. The handle on Chubby 2 is nearly identical to the handle on my Duke 3, both perfect for face lathering if you have medium to large hands.

Duke 2 has a too small handle for my hands, but is also a fantastic brush.

I don't find 2-Band from Simpsons rough at all, It's PERFECT for me and also use a SUPER DUPER soft Muhle Sophist Silvertip 3-Band Super, which is soft as velvet (Softer than my Kent BLK8) - so I know what soft and floppy means

Also note that if you find Chubby 2 in Best too large, the Chubby 2 in 2-Band will be in between Chubby 1 Best and Chubby 2 Best in bloom size, so a Chubby 2 in 2-Band is basically what I looked for, a Chubby 1 1/2

If you get the Chubby 2 in 2-Band make sure younget a bulb shaped knot if you find the Chubby 2 in Best a bit too bloomy, I forgot my Chubby 2 in a summerhouse far away, so have reordered a new Chubby 2 in 2-Band at Chris at www.shaving.ie - have him handpick one for you, and you're all set to go !!

Me personally i would choose the Chubby 1 in super over the Chubby 2 everytime. But if money is no issue the get the Simpsons Gary Young M7 it fits in between the Chubby 1 and 2 24mm knot 50mm loft in finest silvertip a great brush.

I saw someone mention Simpson Manchurian. As I understood it, that hair didn't exist anymore. Did they bring it back as the "finest silvertip", or is that something else entirely?

I have both of these brushes. I wouldn't like to choose between them!

My face isn't the biggest so the 2 band suits more as the best can get a bit big at times.

The chubby 2 band makes a noticeable dent in a puck of soap quite quickly. This is a good thing for me :)

Same here. I love my CH1 Super. Soft tips, super dense and plenty of backbone. Great face lathering brush.

Dear Face-latherer brother: BUT you like HUUUGE brushes, don't you remember?

Anyway, my advice is... go for the two band!!!

EDIT: I was late, you just ordered the one in best....

I would also like to know the answer to this, I was a keystroke away from pressing order on a Langness Manchurian but am confused on what the benefits of the mancurian hair are???

Congratulations indeed! Two mighty brushes for sure! The Wee Scot was so much loved by Alexander Simpson that he put his signature on it and the Chubby 2 Best was (according to Gary Young) the preferred brush of most men in the Simpson's family!

Marco, im interested in your opinion on the chubby 2 best....I know what I'm getting with the wee, that's a little fire cracker of a brush. What do u think of the match for me? Face latherer, arko, ok with a little scritchy, as I'm a boar lover anyways. And love a big brush....u think I'm gonna fall in love?

Face latherer, little scritchy and big brush? You have a good chance to fall in love with the Chubby 2 Best.

^^^i don't know why, but a confirmation from you makes my purchase feel super happy! I'm very skeptical over the simspsons still, (except the wee of course) but I am willing to be open minded. I hope I fall in love with her!!

I think the Chubby 2 Best was a superb choice. I have both a CH2 Best and 2-band Super, and I love both of them. They are certainly different brushes. The Best is packed more densely, although I don't think the 2-band would be improved by a denser knot. The Best has more of a fan shape, and I find myself leaning that direction these days. I feel like my Best manages the lather over my 2-3 pass shave better than the 2-band. Maybe it's because the Best more easily loads soap the way I use it? The Best has a larger face feel than the 2-band. The 2-band has softer tips on my face. If I only had the CH2 in Best, I would be extremely happy with the quality of my shave each and every day. It is simply an outstanding brush.
