I thought this was understood. It's The Nimrod "Sportsman" BTW. It's not for lighting pipes though, it's just for looking through.

Don't get me wrong, I love my zippo pipe lighter. Just sometimes these are less a pain to deal with. Zippo wins outdoors hands down.

And from Japan Tsubota lighters, know nothing about them other then they make a handsome lighter indeed, but at around 100 bucks in the corona pricing would hate to spend on one without someone elses seal of approval

No, I didn't know there was another Zippo insert. After research (and reading the reveiws...it's one tough inset), ...I can get one cheap and it looks just like the real 'oldtime' Zippo insert. Thanx for the info and for sharing.

Plus they are soft flame too, the pipe version has the nozzle angled to shoot flame out the side so you can get it downward, or the regular version you could always do the drill mod too, and have best of both worlds, at 13 bucks or so i think im going to pick one or the other up for myself !

Here are a couple from some old photos in my gallery-

The Nimrod is in here somewhere-

Nimrod? That was Noah's grandson, and a famous biblical figure.

In some versions, Nimrod orders the killing of all babies in an effort to circumvent the impending birth of Abraham. Abraham's mom escapes and gives birth to the future big kahuna of Judaism. He and Nimrod eventually engage in battle, with Abraham defeating Nimrod's considerable forces with an army of gnats. Another version has Nimrod driven insane when a mosquito eats into his brain, a plot device to resurface in Star Trek 2.

Most importantly, the word nimrod appears to be a quasi-onomatopoeia: it just sounds like someone stupid. Consider this- you require knee surgery and the names of the three available surgeons are:
    a) Nikolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky
    b) Chatswoth T. Osborne, Jr.
    c) Bubbles Double Dee

    Who do you select?
    Spoiler:
    C

I have no opinion of it as a lighter.

I just went looking for it ( I found a bunch of razor blades I forgot I had stashed in that drawer) and I did not see it. It may be in the retreat.

I got that lighter at a watch show many years ago as new old stock. I am pretty sure it was made in France. The part that covers the wick is different than the Rodgers I just googled. It does work well with a giant reservoir and a very good seal on it so it does not leak very much compared to a Zippo.
I will look for it some more.

and a nice Sasieni 4 dot to boot - found a 1921 1 dot apple at an old estate sale years back but sold it shortly after (for an obscene amount of $$$$) to a collector

it was a nice pipe but it was just way too small - like a Dunhill size .25 LOL I'm talking TINY.
