Hi,
Just thought I'd start a new thread to not hijack "bang for buck".
Won this on an auction for about 12 dollars and was wondering if anyone can tell me the maker. I'll get some more pics up in a couple of weeks when I receive it.

Looks like the kanayama hardware but the rest of it does not. Need to look at the bottom.
Yeah, I noticed that the hardware was the same as one I've seen on here before which led me to believe it might be a Kanayama but as I've not got my dirty little paws on it I can't confirm what else it has on it.
The ad said it was horsey hide so that should be a good sign in any case.
Hell for 12 bucks I'm not gonna worry if it isn't a real Kana.
if it don't say it stamped at the bottom its not. I hope chemical strop don't mean synthetic strop

No it isn't synthetic, my bro assured me that it's good quality leather. Now is it really cordovan and is it a kanayama.... I'll know for sure on the 3rd August!
You can bend pliable shell leather pretty far and when released there is no wrinkle present unlike bovine.

Apart from the hardware it doesn't seem to fit the style of a Kanayama, but regardless with some TLC it looks like it would be a fine strop anyways.

Naomi-san would mostly make strops for sale under other companies' brands, so it's possible he made it. In fact, he'd never put his own name on his strops in the past year. But, I'm sure others used the same hardware, so it's not likely a good indicator.
