Just started trying Red IPs in my DE89, myself. Excellent shave. I'm also really liking Astra SP (just ordered 100), Gillette 7OC Russian Greens, and of course Feathers. Probably gonna grab 100 each of Red IPs and Gillettes. Feathers are great, but I'm not sure they're 4x as nice as Astras.

Astras .. just kidding. Bahaha.. Similar to the awesome IP Red: Supermax Super Platinum(teflon coated), Lord Plats(BBS, but while not as smooth they're very similar to Reds), Ladas, Voskhod(teflon), Sputnik(teflon), Polsilver(numero uno), and Gillette Black. The Personna Labs are sharp and really last but they don't feel anywhere as nice as the Red's to me.

If using the EJ Barley.. you need a sharp blade. Can't figure out why they always throw in Derby's with those razors... mind boggling. I used the barley for a bit and found it VERY tame. Too tame. You should try the 7oclock blacks for sure, then try the Yellows.. then try a Feather.. rotate.

I liked the Red IP as well. I just tried some Gillette 7 O'clock blacks and love them. Now I need to do a side by side to see which I like the best. Give the 7 o'clock blacks a try.
