Todd - a cast makes a huge difference! Gets the pain down to a dull roar. I've fractured a few bones, one of which was my tibia just below the knee. For a reason I can't remember, they weren't able to cast it. So I spent weeks in a brace, being very still.

As much as broken bones hurt, dislocations do indeed hurt much worse. Once I dislocate a toe and my unthinking reaction was to reach down and grab my foot. I jammed the toe back into place. Good God, did that hurt! I really don't want to imagine how a dislocated ankle feels.

I'm glad to hear you are through the initial hurt. It is all downhill now. At least until the cast comes off!

I wear a pair of Bates uniform boots. They claim to be oil resistant, but they've not aged well. The sole has worn away a lot (I walk on oil-soaked metal catwalks in my line of work as a mechanic). They are right comfortable though, they are very easy to wear for a full day's work, sometimes I go into work at 8 am and don't leave til 8:45 in the evening. I'm sorry to hear about your foot mate, that sucks.
