Default Great Madrid, Spain Shop-Peluqueria Mantane-Myrsol, Etc.

After some research on one of the Spanish shaving sites, and suggestions from my concierge, as well as our friend Malocchio I was able to locate Myrsol products at this great little peluqueria in Madrid called Mantane. They are a barber/salon supply shop very close to the Opera Metro stop (three or four blocks) and close to the Puerta Del Sol metro stop as well. They are at Plaza De Herradores, #10, Madrid. Tel (34) 91 559 9928. They don't have much in the way of a web site but can be found on line at www.articulos-peluqueria-madrid.com Very good selection from the Myrsol line, Vie Long brushes and their new razors, Omega Brushes, Dovo straights, Floid, Proraso, LEA and of course La Toja. I imagine there may be other such shops in Madrid, but darned if I could find any others, at least with Myrsol and this much of the other shaving related products. I left with four bottles of Myrsol products (K, Aqua Basalmica, Emulsion and Hair Tonic) and a Vie Long razor. The Myrsol Aqua Basalmica is incredible, particularly if you're a lavender fan. Anyway, here's some photos and hope this helps someone else when in Madrid between tapas and Sangria. FYI-know that many shops close during the afternoon hours and reopen for the evening hours. Enjoy!

WOW ! What a great selection ! California is sadly lacking in shops like this. You could go broke in this one.Out of curiosity, what is that little box called "waxy" ,right above the huge plastic bottles of myrsol splashes ??

Looks like maroon La Toja stick (Better than the new red one? I have both, I ought to compare...) and the old LEA stick. Did they have the new LEA stick with tallow? Though the old stick was fairly good, the new tallow stick is better, by all accounts. First time I've seen Astra SPs in a shop, too.

Myrsol products are that difficult to find in Madrid? Darn. I have a relative in Madrid that I'm trying to have track down some Myrsol for me but I was hoping it would be easy to get in a grocery store or drug store. I don't want to inconvenience them too much.
Please don't tempt me to buy anymore.

Cortes Ingles was the only place I saw the new LEA and only one or two of their stores had it. Saw lots of LEA in different shops/farmacias/supermercados but only Cortes Ingles had the new sticks. I'm guessing most of these places are trying to liquidate old stock before they roll out the new version.

Yes, I would have thought so as well but apparently outside of Barcelona, it's hard to find. I'm guessing that other places in Madrid might have it but Mantane was the only place I could locate it. I emailed Myrsol about a week before I got to Madrid asking for retailers in Madrid, but sadly received no reply. In my Dade County Spanglish though I'm guessing my email likely wasn't understood or even welcome (yikes!). I think it's safe to say you won't find it in Madrid at any of the usual places but as I mentioned if your friends are close by to either the Opera or Puerta Del Sol Metro stops it's easy to find this store.
