I love the Cobra. It has an injector feel, and it shaves so easily, so well, it feels like i'm cheating. Since I got it, almost nothing else has had so much as a look in. I got it maybe 5 or 6 weeks ago, and have used it all but maybe 3 days since then. Feather, Kai, Dorco, all gave me wonderful shaves. I was even able to comfortably promise SWMBO I won't buy any more razors this year.

I can say that the Cobra is the single best shaving razor I own.

My only wish would be that it were more ergonomic. It is a little awkward for me to hold being flat on the back and curved in front. I think that they designed it more for looks than for function. It is not all that comfortable in the hand but it makes up for it in the way it shaves. I think a lot of it is due to the fact that it uses the disposable straight blades.

If they come out with a more ergonomic model I would be all over it in a heart beat, no hesitation at all.

Wow. One of the Dorco blades was sent to Ireland. It only took four days to get there. Awesome. It takes longer than that for me to send a letter to Lincoln (60 miles away).

Several have them now so let us know how they are working.

I broke open a new blade on the weekend and it seems the second blade is much better. I finished shave 5 this morning and it was a very comfortable shave. No irritation and I have a nice smooth face as I type this.

today will be shave #3 with the Dorco in the Cobra.

I got a response from Dorco USA extolling their DE blades and sending me a link to them. I answered explaining the difference between disposable straight razor blades and DE safety razor blades. Hopefully they will understand and look into it and not just ignore it.

    re: Cobra

You know I'm going to get one because of you two, right? SWMBO thinks I should complain that B&B is a cult that takes over people's minds.

Do you think you get longer life if you use the Cobra instead of a blade holder? I'm not sure why you would but thought I would ask.

    re: Dorco results

That doesn't sound very promising. Hope they actually try to help.

If I don't hear back from Dorco USA in a few days I will run through their contact form and ask once again. I was pretty specific on the reply, even sending links to the Feather and Kai web sites showing the disposable straights they make. I told them the Dorco blades were available in Korea and Japan but not in the US and if they could handle them for the US market. Nothing like dangling a little potential profit along with a question to get an answer.

The Cobra is an odd bird. It gives a nice shave but it could be better designed. Not to talk you out of it if you wan to try one. There is a Cobra pass around going on if you want to get in on that just to try one. They are not all that inexpensive so you might want to try before you fly.

Shave #3 was just as good as shave #1. No signs of fading

Quoting myself... always wanted to do that.

Anyway, I managed to get a Cobra for a while. Put the Dorco blade in it this morning (it had 5 shaves on it). Figured I could get away with simple mistakes if I used the mellow blade.

Did one pass and understood much of what had been commented about them. The handle is a bit awkward and the back being smooth is dumb. I might stick some anti-skid on it (use it on my pistols - lasts well and is removable). The shave was tentative since it was my first one but it was doing the job. After the first pass, I decided to put the blade in a DX and finish since I was going to need a couple of moves on my neck that I wasn't sure about with the Cobra. On the first pass, no weepers and I noticed that the heft of it allowed me to do xtg on my chin and lips much easier than with the blade holders. Nice shave overall. I'm retiring the blade after this one - 6 shaves wasn't too shabby and the 6th shave was at least CCS. I could probably do a 4 pass and keep going for a couple of shaves.

I did notice there was a bit of soap sludge buildup on the blade of the Cobra. Not used to that with the blade holders. Didn't affect anything other than to remind me to clean the blade after use (which I do anyway).

Received my blade last night and gave it a shave. The shave itself felt smooth but for some reason about 10 minutes later my face started really burning especially on the neck area. The problem is I am always changing all the variables everyday with regards to soaps and product and prep and technique so my guess is it came from something else. Will give shaving a rest for a few days and give it another try next week with known good product. I just got so much stuff it is hard to stay focused ;)

Third shave today. Did 3 passes and had great results, no signs of dulling yet.

Second shave after a couple days rest and a long hot bath was fine with no tugging or irritation. Am starting to think it was an allergic reaction to one of the soaps or creams I used in the past few days, likely MdC which I have noticed reaction from on other occasions. Will use a known good soap and cream and see how it goes for a bit.

The first 4 shaves were sort of rough and gave me some irritation. I suspect alot of that was from using a soap I may have some allergy to but beyond that it was tugging and not an easy cutter. Having said that my 5th shave with it last night seemed actually somehow better. Will use it a couple more times to see how it goes but in general I would say I have had better success with true feather blades.

got my blade a little while ago. my results after 3 shaves was dismal. 2 were great the edge fell apart rapidly when it started dulling on #3 shave. i used all well known software and put the blade in my slightly modified parker shavette. i must say the blade started off impressive and #2 was also a great shave. i was overall impressed with quality and sharpness but not the lifespan unless they are cheap enough 2 allow it 2 be economical at 2-3 shave level. thanks 4 the opportunity to participate in this little endeavor. it was fun and informative, later tom

I won't be near them for another few weeks. I'm at a convention which pretty much dominates my time. I should have a few left from the pack, will check when I get back.

My first one was like that. My second one was a dream - lasting six shaves and possibly going longer (but I had to leave it to go on a trip).

Maybe they have a bit of a quality control problem.
