The Dorco is NOT a Feather (duh... we knew that). I am on shave 4 with the first one and it is probably dead. I suspect that if someone was looking for a sharp shave then they would last 3 shaves. However, I started with it this morning, decided it was not going to hack it as a Feather shave (but it still passed an HHT), and stropped it. That seemed to help a tad. Good shave but not a Feather AC shave. The initial shave was very pleasant. The second one was still good but required touch-up that normally wouldn't occur until shave six or seven with a Feather. The third was a bit rough because I wasn't expecting such a rapid degradation - still, it worked.

I hesitated writing the above but decided to do so because I didn't want high expectations and the resultant crash.

I think we can get Dorcos for about 1/5 the cost of a pack of Feathers if we buy in bulk (that is a guess but one based on limited background knowledge of costs in Korea). So... even if they are used one or two times, they might beat out Feathers for value. You guys will have to look at them and see, though.

As far as the PIF - I still have some I can send out but I'm going on another trip - this one is going to be long - so I won't be able to send them for a few weeks. If I get requests today and tomorrow, I'll try to get them out but after that, the wait will be three or four weeks. I'll repost here when I am ready to send more.

Edit: One possible use is for new shavers. A Dorco is SOOOooo much milder than a Feather. It won't slice and dice you as quickly as a Feather will. It might be good to learn on.
    Interesting....
I've just had my 6th shave last night with no deterioration at all. I will point out that 2 of those shaves were only single pass because I'm refamiliarising myself with the Feather artist club SS for the first pass. My shaves have all been in a Cobra Classic.

At the moment for me it's looking as good as a Feather for longevity.... Have you only tried the one blade? This is the second one i've used but the first was so many months and shaves ago I can't remember how long it lasted...

Yep. Only tried one. I'm a little picky and was only shooting for uber sharp for my report. Getting it to last a long time wasn't a goal. However, I think the one I tried was pretty mild compared to the normal fair. Good to know that you are getting a lot better mileage and even better that several will get to report.

I have a case of 10 packs +1 so I am sure I'll get a lot of practice with them. They were very cheap because they were from a distributor in Korea and I just added them to another shipment and there was no increase in postage. Any moderate usefulness will be great.

If we got a group buy on this I'd be pretty interested. Living in Ireland so obviously getting one would cost too much P&P haha

Worse case to Ireland (rigid letter - which is stretching it a bit) is $1.25 according to our USPS guide. Send me your address by PM and we'll see if it gets there.

Used the Dorko for the first time tonight. Got a very good 3 pass shave. The feel was more like the Kai mild's than the Feathers. Seemed like a milder mild, if that makes any sense.

Interesting! That was my first impression - almost exactly. I'll be interested in seeing how long yours holds up.

I sent out two more to Armedcor and itsmedave this afternoon. Should have a good feel for these once everyone checks in.

7th shave for me with the Dorco wasn't great and it was binned after that one!

(By "binned" I mean put into the tub with all the other used blades!)

Just got mine yesterday after shaving . I am using it in a Cobra safety bar SE

Shave #1 was as smooth, close, and comfortable as any blade I've used in the Cobra

I contacted Dorco USA http://dorcousa.com/ (US distributor for these products) and asked why there are no shavette blades listed by them. I'll post in here what they say when I hear an answer back from them

I'm wondering about the same thing also. I'm assuming they are made strictly for the japanese market since feather is big and other knockoffs are available also. For now I'd get a discount if I ordered 100 of them, but if people post their experiences, maybe I can use it to influence them to give me a better price on a smaller order. I can find Kai Captains, Feather Pro's and the Dorcos here , but was curious of the KAI milds and maybe this would be a cheap alternative. If Dorco USA carries them, that would be great. I'll be back in the states next year anyway!

I broke open a new one yesterday - promptly cut my lip. This last week sucked for me and shaving. It's like I rebooted my shaving-fu and it started from scratch. Anyway - since they are arriving I decided to do a 'shave along'. Kinda creepy, eh?

    Two things -

    1. Bluebriz: 6 or 7 shaves would be fantastic if that was an average.
    2. Bluebriz and Turtle: I'm really curious about the Cobra... which means my AD is kicking in... Also, it sounds like the blade hole pattern fits the Cobra well. I figured it might since a side-by-side comparison shows the pattern to be close to the Feather pattern.
    3. Turtle: I'm interested in your response from Dorco - please let us know!

Kai Milds are good blades, too.

Thanks for making this PIF possible for us. (for those who didn't pick up on it, casus4844 was the one who sent me the blades we are PIFing - he provided them for free)

I'd like to give them a try if you still have one to sub-PIF. Will PM my address...

The Kai are priced similar to the Feather (at least the ones I was able to find)

With only 1 shave on the Dorco I can't make any comments other than the shave was fantastic.

I would be interested in getting in on a group buy of Kai mild (pink 20 count or 15 count guard) blades.

The Cobra is so nice it could easily be my only razor. It is a fantastic product and the blades seem to last a good long time in it. Since I use so many different razors I am not sure how long the ones in the Cobra have lasted since I haven't counted the shaves but I am thinking close to 2 weeks (over 10 days). Am keeping tabs on the shaves on the Dorco so I will know about that. Will try to keep tabs on my next blade in it to compare.

I will post back in this thread when I get a response (it's on my watch list so easy to locate). I will ask Dorco USA about bulk pricing if they don't want to import for general sale. They may be willing to do a large quantity one time sale. Any group buy would have to be B&B moderator/owner approved but no point stirring that up until we know if they can even be purchased in the USA.

    Yep. I was yakking with Casus by PM and about the only way we can get a good price is to order a bazillion of them. I got the initial good deal because I ordered something else that was substantial enough for them to kick in the blades at a great price. Still - split 10 ways or so, a bazillion is not so bad... is it? ;-}

I'm sure we can figure out something if it comes to it. Need to find out if they are worth a hoot, first.

Shaved with my Dorco blade for the first time this morning. The shave was super smooth and very enjoyable! It's definitely not as sharp as a Feather, but I think I like it better than a feather due to how smooth it was. I will keep shaving with mine as well to see how long the blade lasts. It felt very similar in regards to sharpness and smoothness to how my regular straights feel coming off of my La Verte Coti. Very nice shave, thanks again to casus4844 and ladykate for pif'ing these blades!

Finished my second shave just now. Did a 4 pass shave and it went very well, just as good as the first.
