Default First ever shave memories.how did it go,what was it with?

Many many years ago i crept into my mum and dads bathroom.if i can recolect it was nineish and a weekday.i must have been thirteen and in no way needing a shave.so with youth on my side and common sense not i opend the bathroom cabinet and peered in.
selecting an old spice shave stick(i can still smell it now, powdery and soapy)well worn brush and a black handle adjustable i set to work making the lather on the stick and applying it to my younger face.
i had never seen my dad shave,he didnt have a beard so he must have done.he had experimented with a moustache and at one point even had sideburns so he must at some point shaved.
after swiping this de allover my already bbs face i appied a liberal spash of old spice aftershave allover my freshly shaved face.i thought i was going to pass out, there is not many times in life you are doubled over in a bathroom in a silent sink grabbing scream( well there was that christmas at a relatives but hey ho)
But the main jist of this is i have still after nearly thirty years a very stong memory of this, the smells and the feeling of "growing up"and having my first shave.
what are your memories and if anyone ever has an old spice shave stick used or not id be more than glad to take it off your hands or do a swap for any english products you want.
i love my gran, why only the other day she said "that o bama fellow ,its so good to see an irishman in office."

My first shave was when I was 12, and I was given the word by my mother that my tiny little bit of peach fuzz had to go. I talked to my dad about it and was promptly handed the old Norelco that he didn't use anymore because "it would be easier for me". I was turned loose without any further ado. I used that thing for a year and a half or so.

I was 13, and I made my mom buy a Sensor Excel and a can of aloe Barbasol. I asked my dad for advice, and he said, "just go shave." Turned out pretty well actually. I don't think he was being negligent of his fatherly duties, he just felt I'd be better off figuring it out for myself. It was mildly terrifying, but I kind of think I'm better for it.

On a side note, I plan to convert him to DE within the year.

My very first time was apparently (so I'm told) when I was two or three years old. It was one of those things where mom and dad were distracted and I found my way into the bathroom, up onto the toilet and up to the shelf where dad kept his shaving gear. Their first clue that something was wrong was when they didn't hear me tearing around the house making my usual ruckus. By the time they found me in the bathroom I had a pair of bloody lips from where I had dragged the razor across them. Good thing dad didn't use a straight.

My next go-round was when I was twelve. Gear was a Trac II and I think a can of Barbasol.

I couldn't wait to shave. I was twelve. Finally my mother said something about the peach fuzz and suggested I shave. Dad gave me a can of foamy, a Fatboy, and a bottle of Old Spice and a bottle of Seaforth. I did the deed just like the Gillette commercials--lathered up, made a single WTG pass, and splashed on the Old Spice. The burn was magnificent. Set the razor to 1. Shaved every day from then on. That was 1963.

Christmas of '63 I received a gift pack of English Leather AS and Cologne--now I was cool. Shaved, and had the hip scent.

My first "Shaves" so to speak were when i was quite young living in Nebraska, during the summer I would spend the days with my Grandpa and Grandma and whatever and wherever my Pa would go i would be there.
Now my grandpa is ex military and for some reason the man would shave twice a day morning and night, so I would spend the time just watching him run that old beat up super speed black handle over his face and hearing the sing of the razor whacking the whiskers off. I would stand there next to him mimicking his every move, so for Christmas one year I'm not sure who bought it could have been Santa, but I received a plastic shaving set that was orange and had a brush, some soap, a plastic safety razor, and a mug. I would take my newly acquired tools into the bathroom with Grandpa and whip my self up a lather and proceeded to shave my self.
I wish I still had this set to just see and feel one more time, to just be able to physically hold on to those memories of my innocent years when the world was full of mystery and wonder.
So Duffy, have any theories to go with that tie?

    First ever shave?

Back in the early '50s at age 4, I gave myself my very first ever shave. Cut myself all to hell. As a result, my face sported several good size band-aids for a while. I really did cut myself up pretty seriously.

Since I was pre-school age, my mother took me with her to the grocery store as she did the weekly shopping at the local A&P supermarket. It was mid-day on a weekday, so there weren't many people shopping at the time, --mainly retirees and some housewives. I do remember that no while one said anything, there were a lot of nods and knowing smiles.

I remember that even at age 4, I was really embarrassed --as was my mother. I don't have any scars to show for that adventure, just some foggy memories.

    I've since learned to shave.

2003, I was 14 years old and had peach fuzz on my lip and my sideburns had started to creep down below my ears. I also had a small patch of hair on my chin. No one else seemed to notice it but I decided that it had to go. I used my allowance to buy a blue Mach 3 Turbo, an 8 pack of cartridges, and a can of Edge aloe gel.

I went home and enthusiastically shaved off my Joe Dirt sideburns and patch of chin hair. No one seemed to notice. I was so excited about having to shave that I did it twice a day for the first few months. I never really cut myself but I was shaving so often that I had a chronic case of razor burn.

Looking back at old pictures and videos of me around that time, I can't believe my parents never thought to tell me to shave. The scraggly sideburns and chin hair looked horrible. I guess they just figured that I'd do it on my own.

That was a loooong time ago. I think I just used a piece of sharp flint. BBS in one pass.
