  1. Default Any decent antique shop in NW Ohio? looking for some vintage gear

Hey guys, title pretty much says it all. My current setup is relatively basic, 5/8 best quality dovo starter setup fro straight razor designs, and I'd like to expand it a little bit. I don't mind buying creams, soaps and the like sight unseen, but I'd much rather check out a vintage straight razor in person. I live in the Toledo area, but I dont mind a bit of a drive.

Man just search the Internet for antiques near you. That will bring up all the info needed. I don't think too many people will give up their honey holes.

Really not much. I often go to Maumee Antique mall but rarely is there a straight let alone some DEs.

One vendor has a travel tech for $65 with a cracked case, couple small boxes of vintage blades for $20+, various SE razors for too much

Omak, thanks for the info. I didn't think there would really be a whole lot in the area, guess I'll just have to hunt around online or see if I can find some flea markets that might have wet shaving gear.

Don't just look, make sure you ASK. One old dusty antique store I went into I'll never forget. An old fellow sitting there watching Bonanza when I walked in. Not an huge place but it had a lot of stuff. Went carefully through it all and not one razor of any kind. It struck me as odd so on the way out I asked, "Do you ever get any razors in?" He said, "Razors? Oh, I keep those in the BACK." He disappears and comes out with a box the size of a small suitcase for me to sort through and I found some real keepers in there.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to be hunting around town tomorrow, I'll be sure to post some pics if I find anything interesting.

I went into an antique store today and asked the lady at the front desk if she had any old shaving gear; straights, DEs, brushes...

She laughed and said, "you are at least the 3rd person today to ask me that. Unfortunately we don't have any, but I will certainly start buying some since it seems to be in demand."

    Sigh. The word is out.

The "word" has been out for a while around here. Very slim pickings.
