Here's the pics I promised. Took these after all of the old flakes of glue were removed, the surfaces roughed up with an awl, followed by 0000 steel wool. Reglued the knot with Loctite Marine Grade Epoxy. Will be ready to go in 24 hours. Thanks for all of the tips. Much appreciated. BBJClick image for larger version.

That's exactly what mine looked like. Before you apply the epoxy do a test fit to make sure the knot fits all the way down into the cup neatly.

That should do the trick, however this is a somewhat concerning failure. It seems like the previous epoxy split from itself. That shouldn't happen, ever, and as a service to Semogue, I recommend you make them aware.

That's why I wondered if the culprit is a bad batch of epoxy. Every thread I've seen with this problem shows the same thing, broken epoxy.

Took the SOC for a spin this morning. So far, so good...we'll see how long it lasts. I also took all of the tips here to heart. I only soaked the bristles 2/3 of the way up, didn't shake out the brush, just a gentle squeeze to get rid of the excess water, and laid it on its side on a hand towel to help wick away moisture as it dries. I'll order the backup tonight to alternate with. While I'm partial to boars, I might spring for a really good, large, silvertip. BBJ
