Lightbulb Hey All; I'm new here and would like to introduce myself (Hello from NY/DE/PA)

    Hey All,

My name is Justin and I have been wet shaving for two weeks now with my Edwin Jagger DE89. I am a Mechanical Engineering & Computer Science student at the University of Delaware who came across the concept of wet shaving approximately 4 months ago when a friend of mine decided to start wet shaving to save money. I decided to make the switch a month ago after some research on how its done and such and now here I am waking up an hour earlier every morning to enjoy a refreshing shave.

I have always enjoyed cutting my own hair and have always become fascinated by the barber shop and its atmosphere. I think think wet shaving will fit right in with some of my hobbies, one of which is mountain biking (Cross Country & Freeride for those who care to chat about that).

I have been spending much of my time on the forum over the last week and felt it was time to write my first post and check-in with the many active members who seem so friendly and knowledgeable here on the forum.

I can already begin to tell you that since I got my first great shave with an Astra Super Platinum earlier in the week my Acquisition Disorder has kicked in. Prior to that, I had been changing up my blade angle and lathering techniques to work on the shave quality. I am still working through my 60 blade sampler pack.

As I am sure many of you feel when you head off to work, I feel a lot better about myself and presence when I show up in a collared shirt, freshly shaven with a CCS or DFS shave. I look forward to waking up early for class and doing the same thing once the semester starts but for now, I enjoy being the better looking and clean shaven intern working about the full time employees.

BTW, the reason I am saying hello from three states is because this summer I have had three homes. During the week, I live in Allentown, PA where I am employed at a large engineering company. On the weekends, I live at school in Newark, DE or in my hometown on Long Island.

Anyways, I figured I should include what is currently in my shave den and what is on the way as of today..

    In the den:

    -EJ DE89
    -Escali 100% Pure Badger Brush
    -EJ Traditional Shave Bowl
    -Proraso Sensitive Skin Shave Soap
-Proraso Pre Shave Cream, Eucalyptus and Menthol
    -Proraso After Shave Liquid Cream
    -Proraso Shaving Cream
    -Thayers Witch Hazel, Rose Petal
    -Straight Vitamin E
    -Aqua Velva After Shave Splash
    -Afta After Shave Lotion
-60 blade sampler pack (also purchased some Feathers and Gillette 7 o' clock blades)
    -Osma Styptic Pencil
    -Clubman Syptic Pencil

    On the way:

    -Old Spice After Shave, Classic
-Old Spice After Shave, Smooth Blast
    -Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum
    -Clubman After Shave, Original
    -Clubman Pinaud Lilac Vegetal
    -Clubman Pinaud Special Reserve
    -Clubman Pinaud Talc
    -Brut Cologne
    -Brut Splash On, Original
    -Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent

Eventually, I plan to add a more aggressive razor to my rotation. I have chosen (subject to change) a Muhle R41. I plan to do some more research and work on my technique in the meantime..

If there are any people interested in engineering, computer science, mountain biking, and/or wet shaving , feel free to say Hello!

    Hey,

The company I work for actually has a manufacturing plant in Wilkes-Barre. I have been there twice now and have only driven through but find it to be an awesome little town. How do you pronounce it by the way? It brings up a lot of debate at work..

that depends on who you ask (still a point of contention locally) It was named after John Wilkes (pronounced: Wilks) and Isaac Barre (pronounced: Barrah) two members of Parliament that were sympathetic to the Colonial cause (Wilkes what quite a radical and a libertine)

so technically it's Wilkes-Barrah , though most locals call it Wilkes -Berry - myself included just out of habit :)

next time you're in the area drop me a line!

Sounds great! And yeah I have been calling it Wilkes-Barrah but most pronounce it -Berry which I just can't seem to bring myself to do because of the spelling lol.

Thanks Guys! I figured it would be good to "check-in" before I start posting and people think to themselves, "who the heck is this guy?"
