    Groom and Clean.

When I get my haircut, they always try to sell me on the American Crew products.

I tell them I use Groom and Clean and always get a . They tell me the AC products are water-based.

I respond with, So is Groom and Clean. Plus, I can buy 3 tubes for the cost of one tub of AC.

LOL... My wife uses my Groom & Clean since her "high end" products that pretty much holds/feels/moisturizes the same cost several times more.

I've used them both - seems to depend as to which does best on things like weather, hair length, desired look, etc. Amount used alters these things as well. Both are good, stable and once-popular products.

I like Brylcream, Wildroot Cream Oil, and Groom and Clean pretty much in that order.

Lately I've just been using some VO5 gel (blasphemy I know) I prefer Groom and Clean but I can't use it, I LOVE the price and performance, but the scent does not mix well with my body oils or something. About 30-45 minutes after applying it I start getting strange whiffs of Captain D's or Long John Silver's..just sort of a stale batter dipped fried fish smell. It drove me mad the first few days I used G&C, was sniffing all my clothes, my car seats..trying to track it down, then I finally figured it out.

I don't know if you're referring to the same stuff I've been using or not. This is called VO5 Perfect Hold all day control and is a gel, not a pomade. It has a very light clean scent, I can't really place my finger on any particular scents to compare it to, it is pleasant and when dry I never really smell it. It gives pretty good hold with very little product and will get pretty stiff/crusty feeling if you use too much but it can be brushed out. Ingredients are triethanolamine, carbomer VP, methacrylamide, vinyl imidazole copolymer, trideceth-9, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM hydantoin and fragrance. Not exactly awesome ingredients but it doesn't cause any itching or other side effects for me.
