    Default mmmmm...bay rum

so I'm just now finishing up my col conks bay rum shave soap and I have to say I find the smell just amazing. this is the first and only shave soap I've used and the first I've ever heard of "bay rum". I see a lot of bay rum products out there and I'm sure the scent varies, but I'd like to hear some advice on peoples favorite bay rum products. I've been learning to shave with a straight and col conks works well for me, but I'm open to try new stuff. I'd really like one that maybe has a bit more linger to the scent.

I like Col Conks Bay Rum scent but enjoy the Conks Almond more. I find Mike's Natural Soaps Bay Rum to be the best bay rum scent I have found. I won't get into the merits of the soap ( Its my favorite) but the scent doesn't smell artificial. Just my opinion and all noses are different so YMMV.

Mike's Bay Rum uses EO so it's an authentic scent. I am hoping to purchase it soon.

You will love them I'm sure!!! You might want to contact him and ask if he can throw in a sample of bay rum. He might not be out of the small sample size and he usually does give a free sample with a purchase. So just let him know you want to try the bay rum as well.

The soaps will work very well with a straight. I use an R41 (almost like a straight) and never had a problem with Mike's.

I have used quite a few different bay rums and Mike's does seem like a very nice scent. My wife doesn't like the scent of Bay Rum as she says it's too "clovey", but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop using it! I shave with only straights and Mike's does a fantastic job when it comes to glide, protection, slickness and cushion.

I have enjoyed Mundus Bay Rum soap (in the tub). Mundus can be found on etsy.com. Nice scent and excellent lather.

+ one more for Mike's bay rum. You should also check out Captains Choice bay rum aftershave. Fantastic stuff and how can you do much better than following up BR with BR?

Ogallala has a great bay rum as well. Never tried Mike's but it seems there are a lot of fans out there.

I love the scent of Burt's Bees Bay Rum Shaving Soap, but alas, as a shaving soap it is a black hole of abysmal performance that will leave you unprotected from the edge of a blade, and gibbering in frustration at the utter lack of latherability that is underneath the deceptively pleasant smell. Makes a nice shower soap, though.

I'm a big fan of Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum aftershave, clovey as it is. Superior 70 is a good, cheap basic bay rum scent. I've heard great things about Captain's Choice but haven't tried it yet.

The Ogallala bay rum products I've tried have all been good, but I've not tried the soap.

One of my favorite bay rum scents is from C.O. Bigelow. They make an aftershave balm and cologne that I enjoy.

Unfortunately, one of the characteristics of bay rum seems to be the fleeting nature of the scent. The Bigelow cologne has the most longevity of the products I've tried, and it's about four hours.

I recently purchased bay rum soap from Ogallala, it is awesome! They run a great bussiness, recieved some free samples of other scents. Needless to say, I love the scents, love the lather, I will be purchasing more from them in the future. I think I love the aftershave more than the soap!!!
