Default A different shave for me today

Treated myself to a nice shave today at the establishment pictured below, some of you might recognise it

Very nice experience, highly recommended if you ever get the chance to go there.

OK, first surprise was that the barber was a lady, nothing wrong with that but something I hadn't expected in such an "old fashioned" establishment. The place is fantastic, truly looks like it hasn't changed in a hundred years. You sit in a little private booth to have your shave. The process was a real classic shave using a straight razor.
Started with Trumpers Sandalwood skin food to soften the beard, then hot towels for about five minutes, then a nice application of Coconut oil cream, a two pass shave, a touch up and then more skin food and hot towels to finish. End result, a BBS shave. It took about half an hour and cost £30($45).
Worth every penny, service was friendly and the barber was very informative and interested in discussing her profession. As a contrast the shave I had at the AOS store in NYC was not in the same league(they used a fusion razor).

Nice, next time I'm in London, sounds as thorough a shave as I had in turkey last year, minus the face wax!

Holy crap. I wish I'd known about this ten years ago when I visited London. In case I ever get a chance to go again, what streets are we on here?

Sorry for the late response, it is Curzon Street in Mayfair.

If I ever happen to make it to London, I will definitely be paying that establishment a visit...along with some other wet shaving landmarks. The British really know how to do wet shaving right (that there is an understatement). Thanks for sharing.
