Default Sort of related to shaving: nose trimming

    groom mate platinum xl

I finally had it with my god knows how many nose hair trimmer. I been through many of these things and my latest one from Norelco isn't working all that well and no it's not the batteries.

I decided to do some research on finding something and I came across this and considering I went back to old school with the DE razors I figured why not. I did some additional research after ordering it and seems like the consensus is this is a solid product.

It will be here in a few days but wondering if any of you had the liberty of using this bad boy? I don't come here often and my time is limited so I figured I just post it but let me guess, it's already been posted a 100x's right?

I'm pretty new here myself so I don't know how often it's been discussed. The Groomate is what I have and it works better than anything I've tried. I think you'll be satisfied. Just don't rinse it in water. I did that to my old one once and it ceased cutting hairs after it dried; just yanked them out! My new one is working great.

Thanks for the tip but that had me really concerned and I did some Google searches and on their website, Amazon, and many other links mention to clean it with either water or alcohol. I wondered if yours rusted or something. Did you strip it down after that happened and tried to fix it?

Sadly, I'm at a point in life where this is now something I need. I have a Sharper Image one, that works just okay. I've been doing research on the Groommate an it appears to be "the one" to get. Question for anyone who has it: Is it the same as the Dovo Klipette without the name? Does anyone own the Dovo? It's available on thesuperiorshave.com website...yes, it's almost double the price, but it's stainless steel and if it works better/lasts longer I'd be willing to pony up. Feedback anyone?

Just checked it out and looks like a well made little gadget, have one in my shopping cart now but have yet to pull the trigger. Seems much better than yanking the out w/ tweezers/my fingers lol.

I have been wondering about these too, I have just been using a pair of tweezers, but that always make me sneeze, eyes water, etc... never tried one of the electric numbers, but I have heard positive things about the manual ones, I will have to pick one up soon.

See my review here: http://badgerandblade.com/reviews/sh...trimmer&cat=46. It's a great little tool and I highly recommend it.

As far as cleaning, it's made from solid stainless steel. I rinse mine in hot water, brush out any leftover "nasal debris", and then dip it in alcohol to sanitize. I have no concern about rust or corrosion.

I'm glad you posted this. I've gone thru a number of those battery powered ones, and have been using scissors.. Think this is a must have!

The boys over at Merz Apothecary have a nice little video review of this gadget. I've been tempted to get one as it's become an issue for me as well (embarrassingly).
Please don't tempt me to buy anymore.

That is my most recent one that stopped working; barely trimming. At the beginning it was great but towards the end it started to run like crap (blade wise). Yes I tried a new battery. This is one of many versions of the electric ones I have owned; I am done with them like I am with store bought disposable razors. Keep everything old school.

This is one of the many reviews I read before I posted here. Didn't really realize I was reading a review from Badger and Blade. Go figure.

Thanks Snargle! So, the entire device is stainless? I'm curious what the difference between it and the Dovo is? Maybe just the name...is the Dovo the original patent holder? What could possibly be the reason for the mark-up?

I keep a Schick ST2 disposable, one of these:

    http://badgerandblade.com/reviews/sh...win-st2&cat=44

in the sensitive version w. green handle in my gym bag for trimming ear hair and the back of my neck.

While experimenting in the shower at the health club recently I've found that with such a slim head, it can fit in a nostril and do a pretty good job on nose hair as well. I have a battery powered Remington trimmer at home, but I don't think it can do a much better job.

I'm not familiar with the Dovo, but the Groom Mate is all stainless steel construction and very nicely machined. A plus for me is that it's made in the USA and that's not too common anymore.

Go to the "Skin, Body, Hair Care" forum. This subject and the Groom Mate have been fully discussed there. In a nutshell, the Groom Mate has a lot of fans.
