Default Expensive Perfume Affair so before Need Suggestion :-)

I was wondering if any of you guys can help me here...It was just about a couple of days back that, someone here suggested me to try "Mazzolari-LUI" as being the most powerful fragrances that one can come across. and I was curious and intrigued by the suggestion. So I have decided to give it a try now the problem is, it is not readily available in my country so I will have get it from a place like Germany (Because only these guys are ready to ship it to me ) Now obviously since it is gonna be an international shipping there is gonna be some cost involved in it and before getting in to such an expensive affair I thought let me just call in for some common opinion and try and judge if this thing will really suit me.

I mostly prefer Perfumes with Woody Frgarances maybe some times spicy but mostly woody, leathery. My choice perfumes are YSL M7, Hermes-Terre D'rmes, Versace L'Homme, YSL Kouros/Body Kouros, Hugo Boss-Number One. Polo-Green, Givency Gentleman etc...

I certainly dont like citrus, aromatic, floral perfumes. So I dont know how is Mazzolari-Lui defined it uses heavy amount of Patachouli so would that make it very spicy or citrusy or floral I dont know !! People here who have used or are currently using "Mazzolari Lui" when you compare it to say a perfume like Hugo Boss-Number One which I think is a fantastic revelation that I have come across in the rcent times with its unique fragrance, so when you compare "Mazzolari Lui" with these woody fragrances like YSL M7, or Hugo Boss-Number one, How does it fair up ? is the Lui also a truely woody fragrance in its true sense or is it more spicy ? is the woody scent obvious in Lui or it just has a undertone to it which makes it hard to identify. I know about the Longevity of Lui but I dont know if It can be called woody in its true sense ? What would you guys say ? is it truly woody ? Remember there is lot of Patachouly in it ! Does that not make it rather spicy then woody ?

I know the obvious suggestion would be, smell it and try it for yourself and see if you like it. But Mazzolari-Lui is not available anywhere here where I live. So have to take a blind call based on feedback

    Cheers !

Well, I don't know if this will be helpful or not. I tried Lui once. It's opening notes are so strong it literally caught in my throat.

I can't address how "woody" it is, because it was a brief test. I came away with a heavy, heavy patchouli impression. There are others here who own it, so maybe they'll weighin.

Ok, I understand that you just had a brief test, so from the brief test that you had from the opening notes did it any ways, I mean the initial scent, opening notes, the first impression, did it give you any hint of woody fragrance ?

I don't "own" Lui, but I have worn samples a couple of times. I don't think of it as woody, but I don't think of all of the others in your list as woody, except possibly Terre d'Hermes in the drydown and the green coniferous woodiness of Polo Green. But I do think of Givenchy Gentleman and Hugo Boss No One as very heavy patchouli frags, and M7 has the slightly camphorous oud note which could be considered kind of woody. Lui does have a slight hint of rose, which I usually don't care for, but it's so faint I don't mind it in Lui. With all of these strong frags on your list of frags that you like, I believe the Mazzolari Lui is one that you will enjoy a lot.

Hey Thanks indeed for your suggestion, Yes of my list above I think I most like M7, Terre D'ermes, and very recently I have come across Hugo Boss Number One I think it is a fantastic perfume, it truly is, what a perfume, is Boss Number One So like for e.g if you compare Boss Number One with Mazzolari-LUI are they similar ? Because you have also earlier mentioned that maybe Hugo Boss Number one has patchouli. I am just getting worried if use of Patchouli makes a fragrance too sweet or floral And if LUI is just a bit too sweet to give it a hint of also being a women's fragrance...

People often talk about Mazzolari LUI having a "Animal Scent" now what on earth is a animal scent somebody would have to tell me that first !!
