[QUOTE=Mike in Cincy;4297849HP has sold WAY more books[/QUOTE]

Maybe. I think there are more than 100 Star Wars books out there, of course by many different authors.

SW never made prequels......I don't care what rumors you heard.

For the record, there was also only 2 Godfather movies.

Bit early to tell for HP. Will depend if it's picked up by the next generation as a touchstone of youth like SW was and is for so many. I don't think it be quite the same for HP. SW has well and truly penetrated and in some ways defined pop culture for a while there. I wonder if a Family Guy homage (pisstake) of Harry in 20 years?
Cheers, Paul. [I like cats but don't think I could finish a whole one.]

I think the reason Star Wars has made it so far is because it hit a great number of people so hard when they were at their most impressionable (childhood and young adulthood). These people carried it over to their children and kept it alive through them. I think Harry Potter might have be able to do this, but you're right. It'll take a long time to tell.

One other point I forgot to bring up (even though someone else might have...) The Expanded Universe for SW is HUGE!! I doubt HP will ever get there. Do they even have one?

I feel exactly the same way you do, except the other way around. Star Wars is a brilliant toy marketing campaign with some marginally enjoyable movies thrown in.
