Question I am confused : cold or hot?

I see people recommending shaving after a hot shower. Then others say the best is a cold water shave. Which is it? Cold or Hot? Or does it really matter? I am confused.

It's easy enough to try both. In my case, I like the lather on the cool side, but the shave is not very nice unless I rinse and heat up the razor/blade in hot water.

Does not matter. What ever floats your boat.

I switch up with the seasons

Winter = scuttle and warm shave

Summer = sticks and cold shave

Both are great. Give both a shot and let us know which works. Everyone has different opinion when it comes to this.

I'm a cold water shaver but temperature is not as important as hydration of the hair shaft. Use whatever is comfortable but avoid extreme temperatures.

I prefer hot water shave, but once awhile on a hot summer day it is also refreshing with cold water.

    This... kinda.

Summer = sticks and shave in the shower so I'm not shaving over a steaming sink.

    Totally preferential. YMMV.

I've tried 2 cold water shaves..one shortly after I started and another about a week ago when the AC was out. Both were the worst shaves of my life, even worse than cartridge shaving. But some people like it.

I personally find I shave best if I don't shower before hand.

Whichever works best for you, just give whatever interests you a try. I myself shower hot but shave cold afterwards. I like it.

Best is always highly subjective on any topic. That's why you're seeing both recommended. As with any topic, YMMV. Try both. Use what works best for you. Using first hand experience to determine what's best for you applies to more than just water temp.

Try both. I did a cold shave this morning and found it refreshing

I do a hot water shower and shave in the winter, and the summer is usually a cold shower and a tepid shave. I did a cold water shave once and wasn't please with the results.

the real trick is getting a hot shave with cold water. Just kidding man, it is completey up to what your face likes and how the products work best for you.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why anyone would want to shave with cold water. I have done it when I had no other choice, and as far as I am concerned it sucks. But, what ever floats your boat; it's your choice.
