To the OP: Tigers are incredible. Probably one of the most comfortable/stylish casual sneaks I've ever owned.
Athletic shoes: depends on what your doing? i've got Five fingers for climbing and lake swimming, cliff jumping etc. I have Nike free runs and some Nike Pegasus for running, I also have some super light inov-8 shoes I use for crossfit.

I have 2 pairs of Asics Gel Kayanos, 1 pair of K Swiss 3 different pairs of Nikes (Free Run, Zooms, & Lunarglides) and 1 pair of Brooks. The Brooks are by far my favorite. The Aisics are a close second. The only reason the Asics aren't my favorite is the fit are a little loose on the sides. I think from here on out i'm a Brooks man

With the constant wet weather and mud at festivals here this year, it's usually walking boots or wellies!

For casual wear, the Simple Old School Sneaker, shown below. For more athletic endeavors (and walking the dog) I have a couple of pair of Mizumo Wave Rider 14s, which fit my feet well (I have a neutral gait, no pronation).

It has been up to 105 around here. I do wear shorts.

I wear all kind of things with shorts. Usually no socks except with some kind of actual athletic shoe or say a specialized walking or hiking shoe. But everything from low cut sneakers like Jack Purcells, frequently traditionally styled Topsiders, penny loafers/Weejuns without socks, Rainbows, flip-flops, "water" shoes. Not desert boots. Not usually work boots, unless I ham actually doing some kind of "construction" or similar work.

Got ya. I cant bring myself to go sans socks, I have tried it a few times and it just doesnt work out. Even when i put in some foot powder. But I do wear the very low loafer socks so I get the no sock look without the no sock feel.

I just ask because I know some gents wear pants all of the time. I couldnt do it even if it was the most breathable material on the planet.

ID:	259166Just picked up a pair of Brooks Ghost 4--perhaps the best running shoe I've ever had. They remind of the very old Saucony Jazz but with super-improved support in this (Brooks) shoe. Great for running or walking. At my age I do more walking that jogging. My jogging days really ended some years back--but I still hit the track trying to wear out lane 6.

Man, I recently got a pair of Brooks for running (I'm training for a half-marathon in January '13 and then hopefully a marathon in April '13) and they are incredibly comfortable. I had been wearing Reeboks because they are a local company and there is a factory outlet store nearby, but I decided to go into a "running store" and they practically scoffed at Reeboks. I tried on a pair of Brooks and its like running in lambskin slippers. They are certainly not "trendy" looking by any means and I don't wear them for casual purposes, but for running, they are incredible.

Got these earlier on today. Have heard about Lunarlon feeling good under the foot and acting as a nice cushion, time will tell.

I've embraced the Vibram 5 Finger "Gorilla Feet" for running and I have a pair of black Nike walking shoes that are too small so I avoid them.

Great casual/functional shoe for hiking and walking. Usually with shorts in the summer, I'll wear a pair of Teva sandals...

    Onitsuka
I raced in the old marathons and the Tiger jawhawk
    lightest greatest running shoe
    In 1970-80
frank shorter wore the tiger ohbari in the 72 olympics
i wore these for cross country.
Before Tiger ( piece of running history) there was a shoe in the 1960 era designed by famous coach Lydiard who trained the australian marsthoners.
For runners here lydiard set the standard fir distance training as wellva Fartlek!
Yes the greatest runnin shoe, asics took over tiger and does a great job
try to get the jayhawk and ohbari

    Nice day jim

My everyday pair of casual shoes are Sperry Topsiders in Ameretto leather during the Summer. The only time I wear running shoes is either actually running or at the gym, in that case they are a pair of Nike lunerglide 4's.

Got these for light hiking and bouldering, but it's been a long time since I've found time to hit the trails & cliffs, so for now they are my kick-around sneaks:
