Money clips... what kinds are best? Any brick & mortar stores sell them?

I just ordered this thin magnet decal that you stick onto a bill to make an "invisible" money clip.

I've had a fifty, a twenty and three tens in my wallet for about four months now. I never use cash anymore and really thought I wasn't alone in that regard.

I find it's always good to have cash on hand. I work in the city, and you never know when you'll need cash for a cab, a vending machine, greasing a palm or who knows what. Searching for the nearest ATM and then paying $4 fees (because it's the city) is something I try to avoid.

A big reason I want to get a money clip is to separate my cash from my wallet. I take out my wallet to use my subway pass to get on the train in the morning and to go home in the evening during rush hour... and I take out my wallet many times during the day to get through the security features at work... so I have to hold the wallet up to the machine to read the card. That's a lot of taking out the wallet, and you can drop cash, or advertise you are carrying cash or whatever. If I get pickpocketed or somehow end up losing my wallet, at least the cash in the clip can get me home. That's the theory, anyway.

I'm partial to Bosca magnetic money clips. They magnet is strong, they're covered in nice leather, and they're not excessively thick IMHO. Metal clips bend, get scratched, and dented.

My Dad had three monogrammed Barrington Original Money Clips made nearly 20 years ago. He gave one each to myself, my brother and kept one for himself. I've carried it nearly everyday since, as both my brother and Dad have done. The clip is magnetic and the pocket holds about 7-8 items snugly. I've never had any problems with the magnet causing issues with my credit cards or cell phones. It's perfect for my purposes and I couldn't imagine using anything else.

I enjoy my Saddleback Leather front pocket wallet. Rather handy. Although, if you are carrying around more than a few bills, and have a few credit cards, the wallet does tend to get a bit tight.

I've had 3 - from a cheapy to a Tiffany - and all of them eventually wore small spots in the back pocket of my suit trousers. The bent metal part will rub and affect softer wool (Super 120) I found.

I use a small card wallet these days.

I use a magnetic money clip, it's 2 magnets wrapped in leather. What's nice about it is when you need to count out money, it opens all the way and when you close it the magnets grab each other thrugh the money. It's got weight to it so you know it's in your pocket.

That is very nice. I carry a simpler version - a Coach magnetic leather money clip. I've used it every day now for at least as long as I've been married (15 years) maybe 20. The stitching finally is coming loose. Occasionally it has messed up my ATM card - so I keep that in my other front pocket in a slim front pocket wallet. But I keep my smarthphone in the same pocket and it has not effected my phone.

Anyway my thought would be to check out Coach magnetic clip - it works great and will last a very long time!

I picked up a very nice clip in Kohl's one day and about a month later it was featured in GQ. Not a bad investment for $16. And it is still working!

I have had one from Tiffany & Co. "1837" for about 8 years that my wife got for me.

Pretty basic silver clip with my initials hand engraved. If you are going to get engraving, get the hand engraving - it looks sooooo much nicer. Mine is all beatup and scuffed - never been polished, the silver stays tarnish free from the friction in your pocket, the lettering has dark tarnish which makes it look really nice. I don't clip any money though. License, insurance card, Costco card, debit card, credit card. It's all I ever bring 99% of the time.

Cheaper than a money clip by 90% almost and holds bills indefinitely. I used to work at the Ballpark and I used the 1.5 inch black one to hold my bank and money from transactions. Used the same one clip for 4 years. At one point I'd have close to $1K in cash in my pouch. Not a comfortable feeling when I get in to make a cash drop and I'd count an EXTRA $875. That only happened twice in 11 years though.

I like the "style" of this one over what I use which sounds like it's similar to what you had prior. I too can vouch that this piece will hold 1k in 20's without any problems, and will never get sprung.
